A man allowed to remain free after a guilty verdict for child sex crimes is now back behind bars.
Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse says Anthony Bowers was taken into custody Tuesday morning at the Jackson County Courthouse. Bowers was convicted Friday of rape, aggravated indecent liberties with a child and aggravated criminal sodomy of a then six-year-old child.

After the conviction, he was allowed to remain free on bond while awaiting sentencing. Later, in light of this conviction, a judge revoked his probation from an earlier case, which led to him being taken back into custody.
Bowers faces a sentence of 25 years to life on each count. A sentencing date has not yet been set.
