Lexington police say a former employee of a local dentists’ office was charged with defrauding a local business and illegally obtaining prescription narcotics.
Elsie Leighanne Lamb, 32, was arrested on Thursday in connection with crimes committed while she was employed at a local dentist’s office.
She was employed at the dentist’s office from February to November 2015.

Her duties included coordinating patient payments and accounts billable and filing insurance claims for the business.
Investigators say she financially benefited from 34 falsely endorsed checks that were addressed to the dentist and deposited into her personal account, totaling more than $15,000.
They also say that Lamb over billed and submitted false or inflated claims to insurance providers to carry out the crime. She then altered or deleted payment information associated with these claims to conceal the embezzlement.
Police say Lamb is also charged with using a DEA number assigned to her employer to obtain controlled substances for herself, they say she called in false prescription orders from the dentist’s office.
She is charged with two counts of Obtaining a Prescription Controlled Substance by Fraud, 34 counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, 2nd degree, and one count of Theft by Deception over $10,000, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Fraudulent Insurance Acts over $10,00 and Unlawful Access to a Computer 1st degree.
