Private Detective: Police Looking For Man Who Robbed Shell Gas Station

Lexington police are looking for a man they say robbed a Shell gas station.

The robbery was caught on camera and they need help identifying the person.

Earlier this month, a man walked into the Minit Mart at the Shell station on West New Circle Road.

He didn’t show a weapon but police say he kept his hand in his sweatshirt and told employees he had a gun.

“Immediately he comes in with a black bandana covering his face, comes around behind the counter and orders the clerk to open the safe,” said Detective Mark Thomas with the Lexington Police Department.

The clerk told the man she could not do that, according to police the man then demanded the cash from the register.

There were witnesses at the gas station and police hope they come forward.

“While that is something simple for him, he’s coming in just to score some quick cash for drugs or whatever he wants, that has a lifelong impact on those people, and we take that very seriously and that’s why as a community we want to get these guys caught,” said Thomas.

Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information leading to an arrest.
