A nationwide effort to enforce online child sexual exploitation crimes has resulted in 28 arrests in Michigan and over 1,300 arrests across the nation.
The Michigan Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force has been working with Michigan State Police and federal and local law enforcement since April in an initiative called “Operation Broken Heart III.”
According the MSP, the intuitive has resulted in 28 arrests over the two months and has promoted internet safety education for over 2,000 community presentations.

The intuitive was looking for the possession, manufacture and distribution of child pornography; individuals engaged in child prostitution; and anyone trying to contact children online for sexual purposes.
“The Michigan State Police is committed to keeping our children safe in today’s virtual world,” stated Col. Kriste Kibbey Etue, director of the MSP, in a release. “Along with our law enforcement partners in Michigan and across the country, we will continue enforcement efforts to discourage predators, while also working to educate children and parents about safe Internet use.”
