The two suspects in a Lee County murder who spent more than a week on the run were arraigned Thursday in an Owsley County courtroom.
Kentucky State Police say Jay Shoemaker, 39, and Raigan Griffin, 22, were wanted in connection with Billy Roark’s death. Roark and James R. Brown were killed in separate incidents in Lee County. The judge entered a not guilty plea on behalf of the two defendants.
In addition to those two, police tell LEX 18, 34-year-old Anthony Taylor and 23-year-old Kasandra White are charged with murder and complicity to murder in the deaths of both Roark and Brown. Wesley Johnson, 22, and Kevin Kendall, 32, are charged with complicity to murder.

Police say that Shoemaker ordered Taylor and Kendall to “finish Roark off.”
On Monday around 6:30 p.m. troopers found Shoemaker and Griffin on Rock Lick Road in Breathitt County. Two additional individuals, Amy Turner, 31, of Beattyville, and Alysia Hensley, 33, of Beattyville were arrested and charged with hindering prosecution.
Both Shoemaker and Griffin have been appointed public defenders. They will be back in court August 29.
Also in court this morning was Kendall’s wife, who was working to dismiss a domestic violence order against him. There will be a hearing on August 23rd in Lee County, in which Kevin Kendall will be present.
