Private Detective: Police Return Stolen Items to Victims of Theft Syndicate

Police from three counties are trying to track down the owners of hundreds of items stolen in a multi-county theft syndicate.

Brittany Woodward is one of the lucky ones getting her stuff back quickly. Hundreds of people in Franklin, Shelby, Anderson, and Scott Counties were victimized by a syndicate of thieves.

“I felt violated, my gosh,” said Woodward. “I didn’t even want to check the rest of my vehicle because I had some really important stuff in my trunk and thankfully they didn’t go through there.”

Woodward had saved up money to buy a hunting bow that was stolen from her before she could even use it.

Police say Justin Hendershot is one of the people who stole Woodward’s bow, along with dozens of cell phones, firearms, shoes and anything else of value.

Police say he was holding a yard sale at his house when police arrested him.

Investigators have stopped the thieves and they still expect more arrests.
