Private Detective: Accused Textbook Thief Due in Court

For most students, there isn’t a lot of money in selling your textbooks back at the end of the year. That is, unless, you never paid for them in the first place.

30-year-old Anthony Shields of Lexington is alleged to have stolen textbooks from several universities. Police at the University of Kentucky were tipped off by Morehead State University officials that Shields was in Lexington selling stolen textbooks.

Police say that Shields allegedly owned a scanner to identify the more expensive books.

Shields is due in a Fayette County courtroom Monday afternoon.
