Authorities in Johnson County say someone shot and killed three horses in what is known to be a family friendly area in Johnson county.
“They bring the kids up here everybody knows these horses here on Greasy so the kids come up here they’ll bring food up to them,” said Deputy Chief Terry Tussey.
At least three horses were shot in the head and the Deputy Sheriff says they’re trying to find out who did it before it happens again.
In the meantime, the remaining eight horses that are still in the woods will be removed as soon as possible.

Deputy Tussey says he’d like to reunite the horses with their owners, but doesn’t know if they have any. “If these are somebody’s horses they can come forward and claim them or if not these horses will be adopted out.”
According to Tussey, it’s not unusual to find abandoned animals in these woods.
He says people are known to drop animals dogs, cats, horses, and livestock but after the recent killings, his fear is whoever shot these animals may come back and do it again.
The Johnson County Deputy Sheriff is asking anyone with information about the killings of those horses to come forward.
