Family and friends of a Southern Indiana woman killed in a car wreck say reports from the incident are not adding up.
Nikki Reed, 37, of Seymour was killed after her SUV slammed into a tree Saturday. The driver, her boyfriend, Kevin Bell, 39, survived but wasn’t discovered until Tuesday after he crawled to safety three days after the crash.
Indiana State Police say that both Reed and Bell had cell phones on their person and before he was discovered, Bell sent a text to a co-worker saying ‘car accident’ on Monday, 24 hours before he was found.
Police and family members can’t figure out why Bell decided not to call 911.

“That is a concern for us if he chose not to report this as soon as he possibly could,” Indiana State Police Sgt. Stephen Wheeles told WAVE 3 news.
A passerby who found Bell crawling on the side of the road called emergency officials to report the wreck. During that call, Bell never mentioned the crash. Police finally found the couple’s Explorer after arriving on the scene.
Inside they found Reed deceased.
Meanwhile, family members are struggling to figure out why Bell didn’t reach for help instead of texting his friends.
“If you can send a text message at 10 a.m., why couldn’t you call 911?” Reed’s cousin, Pam Smith, asked.
Police say Bell did have a warrant out of his home state of Pennsylvania but the warrant did not have extradition, meaning he would not have been arrested in Indiana where the crash occurred.
Bell remains hospitalized with injuries to his leg.
