Private Detective: Valley View Ferry Closed Wed. For Investigation

The Valley View Ferry will be closed Wednesday as police continue their investigation following the discovery of possible human remains discovered in a vehicle in the Kentucky River.

Police tell LEX 18 the possible remains were found last week while they were pulling old vehicles from the water. One vehicle had been found in the water last year at the site. Over the weekend, firefighters decided to utilize the wreckage and conducted a training exercise that involved pulling the car up.

The first car broke in half and what appeared to be skeletal remains fell out of the vehicle.

A second car was also pulled from the water.

Former State Forensic Anthropologist Dr. Emily Craig is now working alongside the Fayette County Coroner’s Office on the case.

The ferry will be open from 6:00-8:30 a.m. on Wednesday for morning commuters, then it will be closed for the remainder of the day.

The ferry will be on regular schedule Thursday.

At this time police say it is not clear if the remains are connected with any of those vehicles or any particular investigation.

On Wednesday, divers say that they found more car parts but no bones. They say they hope to find a skull or a jawbone to help them identify the remains.
