Accident Reconstruction Two Killed in Rockcastle County Crash

The two people killed in an early morning crash on Highway 461 in Rockcastle County have been identified.

We’re told the crash happened near Highway 150 just outside of Mount Vernon around 5:20 a.m. when a Mustang and a pickup truck hit head on.

Officials say the driver of the Mustang, identified as Alexander Hooker, 21, was killed when he crossed the center line and hit a Chevy pickup truck head on.

Kentucky State Police say Hooker was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck, identified as Delaine Smith was taken to Rockcastle Regional Hospital and then flown to UK Hospital for their injuries.

The passenger of the truck, identified as Michael Smith, 56, was taken to Rockcastle Regional Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Highway 461 reopened around 8 a.m.
