The Mason County Sheriff confirmed with LEX18 authorities were searching for an escaped inmate Saturday night.
The sheriff said 27-year-old John N. Barker scaled a fence and escaped the Mason County Detention Center early Saturday morning. He said Barker was working in the kitchen around 5:30 a.m., when video shows him climb a fence. Once over the fence, Barked headed south on US 68.

At the time of his escape, Barker was wearing a dark gray hooded sweatshirt, jeans and boots. He is described as 5’6″, 140 bounds, with a small build. He has brown hair and blue eyes, and several tattoos including a teardrop tattoo under his left eye.
