NORTHBRIDGE —

A Whitinsville man who went missing on Tuesday was found today at 1:30 p.m. in Putnam, Conn. walking on Rte. 44.

At 12:41 p.m. Northbridge Police got a tip from an unidentified man in Woodstock, Conn. who said he saw a man fitting 31-year-old Michael Heydary’s description walking in the Dudley and Oxford area yesterday.

The same witness told police he saw that man, who turned out to be Heydary, walking in Putnam today.

Northbridge Police Dispatcher Lisa Gaylord contacted Connecticut State Police in Danielson. Connecticut State Trooper Melissa Brezniak made contact with Heydary, who was then transported to Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam for evaluation.

It is unclear why Heydary left his home on foot with no supplies, or where he was going, police said.

Police said they took Heydary’s parents Benjami and Suhaila Heydary to the hospital to see their son.

Police have been searching for Heydary, of 576 Samuel Drive, since 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, when his parents reported him missing from their home in the Whitinsville section of Northbridge.

After notifying the media with a press release, police said they would not answer any further questions regarding the situation.

The search included cadaver dogs and dozens of Northbridge and state police and fire officials who scoured the waters and woods around his home by foot, ATV and chopper.

Police did not say what condition Heydary was in when discovered in Putnam, or whether he had walked there from Whitinsville.
Police also did not say how the man who tipped off police knew that Heydary was missing.
