A former Madison County newspaper editor has been indicted on child sex abuse and torture charges.

A grand jury indicted 46-year-old Joseph Trotter, who used to work for the Richmond Register. According to the indictment, Trotter abused two children between 2002 and 2006. The abuse allegedly began when both children were under 12 years old.
The indictment states Trotter tortured the victims with cruel punishment and confinement.
