MIssing Person Edward Naklicki

LYONS, Ill. (CBS) — Police dogs were brought out Tuesday to search a west suburban forest preserve for a 59-year old Chicago man who has been missing since late last week.

As WBBM Newsradio’s Bernie Tafoya reports, electrical contractor Edward Naklicki has been missing since Friday, when his wife last saw him as she hugged and kissed him before going off to work.

She tearfully tells WBBM Newsradio she can’t understand what has happened. “Everything was OK. We have good life,” she said.

Today is the couple’s second wedding anniversary.

Barbara Naklicki, along with family, friends and police were searching the Ottawa Trails Woods near Lyons, where Naklicki’s white Ford contractor’s van was found in a parking lot yesterday.

Son-in-law Andres Lopez says relatives “don’t know what to speculate. Did he walk out and fall and hurt himself? Did somebody do something to hurt him? We don’t know.”

Lopez says his father-in-law was a happy-go-lucky person and never would have hurt himself.

Lopez says police found Naklicki’s lunchbox in his van and it still had food in it.

He says a check with the southwest side man’s cell phone carrier determined the last outgoing call was sometime Friday.

The family says they think they would have been on a trail toward finding Naklicki sooner had someone with the Chicago Police Department not erred in taking down Naklicki’s vehicle information. Lopez says the Cook County Forest Preserve District Police first spotted the van in the woods on Sunday night, but didn’t connect it with any missing person because nothing popped up on their computers.
