Drug Dog Sweep Cory A Seiler Arrested

A traffic stop for an equipment violation turned into a substantial drug bust for Baraboo police Saturday afternoon.

At 4:47 p.m. Sunday, police stopped a car at Lynn Avenue and South Boulevard after noticing the driver had plastic covering his driver’s-side window.

“The officer who made the stop knew the driver is required to have safety glass, and not plastic taped to the door,” Baraboo Police Chief Mark Schauf said.

“A driver must be able to roll down his or her window to safely signal to other drivers when making a turn. It was a good observation by the officer to stop this car.”

Schauf said the officer used the department’s drug dog to inspect the car.

The driver, Cory A. Seiler, 51, of Baraboo, allegedly had hidden cocaine and marijuana in his pockets and inside the vehicle.

Police found 11 grams of cocaine and 28 grams of marijuana with estimated street values of $1,500 and $400, respectively.

“It was definitely a good bust for us,” Schauf said. “It also shows what a great tool the drug canine is for our department and city.”

Seiler was charged with possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He also was cited for operating under the influence of a controlled substance.

Seiler is expected to make an appearance in Sauk County Circuit Court Tuesday.
