Insurance Fraud Tiffany V. Thompson

LOWVILLE — A Carthage woman was sentenced Monday in Lewis County Court on welfare- and insurance-fraud charges.

Tiffany V. Thompson, 30, was sentenced to time served in county jail, five years’ probation and $1,279 restitution on charges of fifth-degree welfare fraud and fourth-degree insurance fraud, to which she pleaded guilty March 23. She also is to receive no public assistance or food stamps for one year.

Ms. Thompson was accused of receiving, in 2010 and 2011, Medicaid and food stamp benefits to which she was not entitled, along with unlawfully receiving money from Peerless Insurance by getting medication covered by Medicaid, then altering the receipts to file claims with Peerless.
