Insurance Fraud Arkady Suleymanov

A Staten Island man was busted for insurance fraud after claiming he was last behind the wheel of his Maserati five days after the sports car was found torched in Brooklyn.

Arkady Suleymanov may have thought he was in good hands with Allstate, but he should have gotten the dates straight before coming up with his tall-tale for the insurance company examiner.

FBI special agent John Penza acknowledged in the criminal complaint that the person identifying himself as Suleymanov in the taped phone interview with an Allstate representative may not be the defendant.

“The individual sounds younger and appears to speak English more proficiently than does Suleymanov,” Penza said in the complaint.

Suleymanov, the registered owner of the 2007 Maserati, has two grown sons who have not been charged.

Firefighters found the burning vehicle in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, on Nov. 9, 2011. Suleymanov claimed that he drove the car to Queens on Nov. 14 to visit his sister and parked it outside her Forest Hills building, where it allegedly was stolen.

Suleymanov was released on $200,000 bond.
