FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Notes from a U.S. Coast Guard search and rescue team show that life jackets and religious texts were found aboard a missing South Florida oil tycoon’s boat, but he had left his watch and wedding ring at home.
The Sun Sentinel obtained the notes through a Freedom of Information Act request. Commander Darren Caprara tells the Sun Sentinel ( http://sunsent.nl/OQrxQe) that the notes compiled by multiple officers involved in the 48-hour air-and-sea search for Guma Aguiar don’t prove a planned suicide.

Aguiar’s boat washed ashore in Fort Lauderdale in June with its engine still running. Police found no blood on the boat and no evidence of foul play.
The Coast Guard notes show that all the boat’s life jackets were accounted for.
Aguiar is still missing.
