Private Detective: Man Catches Package Thief on Security Camera

As it gets closer to Christmas, a Lexington man is warning others about those crooks who believe it’s better to receive than give.

Hiding in a high, dark corner on Steve Good’s porch, a security camera is always rolling. It’s ready for whatever may come to the door.

“Just out of the corner of my eye I noticed somebody coming up the sidewalk, and my first assumption was he was going to sell something and I was going to actually ignore him,” Good said.

Good couldn’t ignore this visitor, as the cameras showed him running away with $200 worth of Christmas gifts recently delivered.

When the man came back to grab more packages, Good was waiting at the front door.

“He tries to get cool with me and ask me if I know where somebody lived, which I knew that wasn’t the case,” Good said. “I told him I can see my packages, you need to give them back.”

Good said he got all but one of the packages back, as the thief threw them out his car window while speeding off.

He was also able to make note of the man’s license plate number along with the shirt he was wearing.

“When I looked a little closer, it’s the [University of Kentucky] College of Social Work sweatshirt, and that’s not a t-shirt you’re going to buy at Walmart,” he described.

Good said making this public isn’t about getting his last package back, it’s about making sure others keep theirs.

“If he steals this, he’s going to get some kid’s Christmas present and they’re not going to have Christmas,” said Good.

Wrongful Death Trigg County Man Pleads Guilty to Killing Parents, Sister, and Hitman

A Trigg County man pleaded guilty to murdering his parents and sister on Wednesday.

Ryan Champion will spend life in prison without the chance for parole.

Over two years ago, Joy, Lindsey, and Emily Champion, and Vito Riservato, were found shot to death inside the Champions’ Trigg County home.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Champion first told the investigators that he managed to escape a killer, who he claimed was Riservato, then killed him in self-defense.

Investigators determined that Champion hired Riservato to kill his parents and sister, and then killed him too.

“We lost a sister, a brother, and a niece,” said Lindsey’s sister, Lisa. “There is no penalty severe enough for taking Joy, Lindsey, and Emily’s lives.”

Private Detective: Shoplifting Turns Into Attempted Murder of A Police Officer

Two men from Detroit are in jail after police say a case of shoplifting ended with an attempted murder charge.

A press release from the department says Ernest Powell and Deandre Tucker stole almost 380 dollars worth of cigarettes from the Shell Station on Peggy Flats road a little before 1 a.m. Thursday.

Someone from the gas station called police and said they were driving a blue Jeep Cherokee. Officers later found a similar car driving down I-75 and pulled it over at the southbound entrance ramp at Exit 77. Police say the driver refused to get out of the car, then put the car in reverse, peeled backwards and hit the officer with the open car door. The Jeep then took off down I-75.

Police chased them down the interstate and saw someone throwing stolen cigarettes out the window.

The car turned around at Exit 62 in Mount Vernon and started going North back to Madison County. By this point several other agencies had joined the chase.

Police say the driver swerved at one of the cruisers and almost hit it.

The chase ended around Exit 76 when the driver lost control of the Jeep Cherokee and crashed. The three people in the SUV got out and ran into a wooded area, but were all found.

22-year-old Ernest Powell is the alleged driver and has been charged with attempted murder of a police officer, 2 counts of wanton endangerment with a police officer, fleeing and theft.

Deandre Tucker was charged with theft, fleeing and evading, and evidence tampering, while both Powell and Tucker are charged with unlawful transaction with a minor because the third person in the car was a minor.

The minor was not charged.
