The Springfield Police Department took a report of a missing and endangered person and asks for the public’s assistance. No one has reported seeing Lanny D. Jackson, 79, since he was at his home in the 1900 block of East Ridgewood Drive about 11 a.m. Saturday. Jackson left in a silver Toyota Highlander (MO license plates, YG6 P6Y).

Jackson is on medication and may be depressed, according to his son. He is 6-foot-1 and 220 pounds, with gray hair and blue eyes.

Anyone with information about Jackson’s whereabouts can call 911.

State Troopers arrest a wanted California sex offender and located four children reported missing, authorities said.

According to Master Trooper Brooks David, Louisiana State Police were informed by the US Marshals Service that a wanted California sex offender could possibly be traveling through Louisiana.

37-year-old Joseph F. Moreno was wanted out of Dos Palos, California on charges of sexually assaulting a child, according to a news release.

State Police said they believed Moreno was traveling with 37-year-old Penny L. Rascon and her four children, ages four, six, seven, and eight-years-old. The four children were all listed as missing out of California.

David said State Police broadcasted the wanted person information to all law enforcement across a three Troop area along the I-10 corridor.

Shortly after 7 a.m., two Troopers from State Police I who had been working closely with the US Marshal Service said they spotted Moreno at a convenience store off of exit 76 near I-10 in Acadia Parish.

Troopers arrested Moreno and placed in in the rear of a police unit and then said they located Rascon and her four children in a vehicle in the far corner of a parking lot near several 18-wheelers.

Troopers arrested Rascon and immediately took custody of the four children, according to a news release.

Troopers said they were able to tell that the children were hungry and had not bathed in several days.

According to David, the troopers immediately purchased food and drinks for all four children and transported them to Troop I headquarters where the children were given blankets, pillows, and toys to play with.

LSP Troop I Communications Specialists and several on duty Troopers cared for and visited with the children to make them feel comfortable and safe.

Moreno and Rascon were transported to and booked into the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Moreno was booked on an active arrest warrant from California for three counts of lewd and lascivious acts on a child under 14.

Rascon was booked for child abduction.

A news release states that both are now awaiting extradition back to California and that the four children were released to the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services personnel.

A west Michigan woman has been charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct involving her 4-year-old son.

The Muskegon Chronicle reported Friday that police learned of the incident after her husband found photos of his wife and the boy.

Oceana County sheriff’s Lt. Craig Mast says the photos also were sent to an acquaintance of the woman in Colorado.

Police responded Aug. 3 to a domestic violence complaint at the woman’s Shelby Township home, northwest of Grand Rapids. Mast says the woman’s husband told officers they had an altercation after he found the photos.

The woman is being held in the Oceana County Jail. The Associated Press is not releasing her name to protect the identity of the boy.

The boy and an older child have been removed from the home.

Berea Police are investigating after a woman died in a church on Chestnut Street.

It happened at the Oklevueha Native American Church of the Peaceful Mountain Way. Traditionally, the church believe in drinking a brew called Ayahuasca, a psychedelic liquid, consumed for the purpose of spiritual healing.

It’s not clear if that’s what a church member was doing when she passed away in the building on Saturday. According to a post by the church on their Facebook page, the woman tripped and fell and was knocked unconscious.

Berea Police say that at this point there’s not much they can do about the investigation.

“We did collect some evidence from the scene and some of that will be sent off to the KSP lab. We talked to everyone who was there. At this point no one is criminally charged. It’s just an active investigation and there’s a lot of unanswered questions,” Lieutenant Jake Reed told LEX 18.

The Madison County Coroner says her body went in for autopsy but they have not determined a cause of death yet.

The woman has been identified by the coroner as Lindsay Poole ,33, from Anderson, South Carolina.

The wife of a man accused of feeding meth to dogs has been charged with wanton endangerment and criminal abuse after it was determined that their two-year-old child tested positive for meth.

An arrest citation says that Anna C. Burdette was arrested on Monday around 11:06 a.m. after her child tested positive for Amphetamines, Methamphetamine, and Canaboids.

The citation says that she told police her husband, Bejamin Burdette, was using illegal narcotics in their home and she took the child into another room. Police say that she made no effort to get the child to a safe environment.

Benjamin Burdette was arrested last Tuesday after deputies say he fed meth to two dogs. Both dogs died.
