Private Detective: Police Looking For Man Who Robbed Thornton’s

Police are looking for a man who they say robbed the Thornton’s on Winchester Road.

They say the man is armed and is considered dangerous.

Police have surveillance footage of him robbing the gas station. They say the robbery happened in the early morning hours of June 27th.

“This guy took a little extra time to go around behind the counter. He stood there, waited on the clerk to come over.  Then once he had the cash, he tells him to lay down on the ground, face down and count to 60.  I haven’t heard of that in years,” said Detective Marc Thomas with the Lexington Police Department.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

Thomas says that this is uncommon, considering most robberies just involve the robber coming in, demanding cash and then leaving.

He hopes that this may eventually help Lexington Police make an arrest.

“We find a lot of times too that these guys generally don’t change their clothes very regularly, or often. Or they have very few sets of clothes they wear routinely,” said Thomas.

Detective Thomas urges shop owners in the area to exercise caution.

If you know this person, you’re asked to call the Lexington Police at (859) 253-2020 to leave an anonymous tip. You can also text your tip, just text “LEX-PD” and your tip to ‘CRIMES.’

A cash reward is offered for information leading to an arrest.

As the deputy spoke to the driver, he detected a “strong, distinct odor of marijuana” coming from the vehicle, according to a press release.

Private Detective: Man, Girlfriend Charged With Stealing Grandfather’s Debit Card

Two suspects were charged with taking more than $5,800 from one suspect’s 85-year-old grandfather after allegedly stealing his debit card twice.

Richard Lee Dawson, 39 and Melissa Ann Alderman, 32, both of Chehalis, were each charged Monday in Lewis County Superior Court with first-degree theft and unlawful factoring of a credit card. Superior Court Judge James Lawler granted each $10,000 unsecured bail.

“I haven’t been in any trouble since I was 17 years old,” Alderman told the court Friday.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

Lewis County Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer commented that Alderman’s has a “surprising” lack of criminal history, and asked Lawler to impose the unsecured bail amount. However, Meyer asked for $5,000 cash or bond for Dawson, citing recent warrants and a pending district court case.

“He doesn’t have a whole lot of criminal history, but what he does have shows he’s not a good candidate to reappear,” he said. Regardless of Meyer’s concern, Lawler again imposed unsecured bail.

Both defendants are scheduled to make their next court appearances on Thursday.

On June 29, a Lewis County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a report of a theft in which Dawson and Alderman were identified as suspects.

The alleged victim, an 85-year-old man, is Dawson’s grandfather, according to court documents. Because the man normally only uses checks for financial transactions, his bank alerted him when his several large transactions were made using his debit card, according to court documents.

The victim’s debit card was canceled on June 12, and a new debit card was issued along with a new pin number.

While the victim told investigators he never received the new card, it was activated on June 27, according to court documents, and numerous transactions were made using the new card. The victim told deputies none of the debit purchases were authorized by him.

Investigators obtained documents, bank statements and surveillance footage, which reportedly showed Alderman using the debit card to make cash withdrawals in June at banks and businesses, according to court documents.

In total, 29 transactions were made using the stolen debit cards for a total amount of $5,842.

Alderman was arrested at 2:05 p.m. on Friday. She reported told deputies that she used the debit card with the alleged victim’s knowledge most of the time, but admitted she and Dawson occasionally used it for themselves. She said Dawson was with her for every transaction, according to court documents.

Dawson was arrested at 8:02 p.m. on Friday, and told deputies the alleged victim gave him permission to use the card a few times, but said all of the other transactions were not approved, according to court documents.

Each was originally arrested by the Sheriff’s Office on on suspicion of two counts of second-degree theft and 11 counts of second-degree identity theft.

Pedophile Tracking Dodge City, KS Woman Sentenced for Recording and Posting Sex Acts With 2 Year Old

A Dodge City woman was sentenced Monday to serve 21 ½ years in federal prison for making a video of herself engaged in sex acts with a small child and uploading the video to the Internet, according to a release from Acting U.S. Attorney Tom Beall.

Ashley Marie Kelly, 25, pleaded guilty to one count of producing child pornography. In her plea, she admitted she used a smartphone to record the acts and posted the video to her Google Drive account.

Google discovered the photographs and sent reports to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

According to the grand jury indictment, Kelly videotaped the exposed genitals of a 2-year-old girl on Jan. 24, 2014, and then recorded herself performing oral sex on the girl and touching the child’s exposed genitals in separate videos recorded Feb. 13, 2014.

Ford County District Court records show Kelly was convicted of five counts of sexual exploitation of a child for possessing visual depictions of children under age 18, stemming from a May 2014 arrest. Under a November 2014 plea agreement prosecutors dropped 18 other counts and Kelly was placed on three year’s of supervised probation.

Beall commended the Ford County Sheriff’s Office, the Wichita Police Department, the Kansas Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and Assistant U.S. Attorney Jason Hart for their work on the case.

Pedophile Tracking South Bay, CA Man Gets 40 Years For Child Sex Trafficking

A self-described “cross-country pimp” from Gardena was sentenced Monday to 40 years in federal prison for forcing seven girls — including one who was 13 years old — to work as prostitutes.

Laron Darrell “Birdd” Carter, 39, was also ordered by U.S. District Judge Virginia A. Phillips to pay more than $630,000 in restitution to six of his victims, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Following a five-day trial in April, a Los Angeles federal jury convicted Carter of seven counts of sex trafficking of a minor by force, fraud or coercion, and seven counts of transporting a child to engage in prostitution.

The evidence at trial showed that the Crips gang member trafficked girls as young as 13 and subjected some of them to beatings, which included victims being punched in the face and whipped with a belt.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

Carter’s “conduct in this case spanned a decade as he prostituted the seven minor victims from 2003 to 2013” and transported them from California to Arizona, Texas, Georgia, Washington, D.C., and Nevada, prosecutors wrote in a pre-sentencing memorandum filed with the court.

The case stemmed from the 2013 rescue of a 16-year-old girl, who told investigators that she had been recruited by Carter to travel from Minneapolis to Los Angeles. When she arrived in Southern California, Carter forced her into prostitution, she said. Carter took the teenager to a hotel in El Segundo and advertised her services on backpage.com. The victim “ran away at one point, but she found herself lost with no money and returned,” according to court documents.

“When she returned, defendant beat her and whipped her with a belt for leaving,” federal prosecutors wrote.

After the victim was rescued, investigators located six other girls who had been coerced or physically forced into prostitution by Carter between 2003 and 2010.

“Above all, this sentence assures no more girls will fall prey to this brazen and manipulative sexual predator for decades to come,” said Joseph Macias, a special agent for Homeland Security Investigations in Los Angeles. “But the outcome of this case should also serve as a sobering warning to those engaged in the sex trafficking of minors about the severe consequences for those who commit such crimes.”

During the trial, the jury saw Facebook postings in which Carter described himself as a “cross-country pimp” who worked for “Pimpin’ International.” The jury also saw photos of tattoos with the “Birdd” moniker that victims were forced to get, prosecutors said.
