A McCracken County physician has admitted to devising a scheme to obtain prescription pain medication while he was working at two Paducah hospitals.

U.S. Attorney John E. Kuhn Jr. said in a news release that 46-year-old Sean McDonald pleaded guilty Thursday to fraudulent possession of a controlled substance, wire fraud and making false statements about health care matters.

Kuhn says McDonald misrepresented that he was removing meds for hospitalized patients, falsely possessed the controlled substances, and caused a request for payment to be sent from Lourdes hospital and Western Baptist to patient insurance carriers.

The charges could have sent McDonald to prison for a maximum cumulative sentence of 113 years if he had been convicted at trial. Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 26.

A man is dead after being hit by a car in Madison County Thursday night.

Authorities say it happened just before 11 p.m. on I-75 South near mile marker 77.

According to Berea police, the victim was walking on the interstate when he was hit by a car.

The victim is identified as Artice Lee Davis, 64, Rockmart, Georgia.

The accident is under investigation.

The Madison County Coroner is asking the public for help in contacting Davis’ family.

Police issued an endangered person advisory Thursday night for a 6-year-old Overland boy who is believed to be with a babysitter who didn’t return with him Thursday afternoon.

Police are looking for Alonzo Manning, who was last seen at 8 a.m. with Kelly Walton, 33, who dropped the boy’s mother off at work at Children’s Hospital in St. Louis. She was supposed to babysit the boy for the day and was supposed to pick up the mother from work at 4 p.m. but never arrived, police say.

Walton is black, 5 feet 5 inches, 180 pounds, with brown hair, brown eyes, and a light complexion. She was driving a black 2012 Ford Fusion with Missouri license plate KL5U7N.

A 22-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man was charged with multiple felonies Thursday for allegedly offering to provide a 2-year-old child for sex.

Wyandotte County prosecutors charged Zachary Taylor Garrett with attempted rape of a child, attempted aggravated indecent liberties with a child and aggravated child endangerment.

His bond is set at $500,000 and he is being held in the Wyandotte County jail.

The investigation that led to Thursday’s charges began several weeks ago in southern Missouri, according to prosecutors.

It began with a posting on Craigslist that led to Garrett communicating with undercover police officers and allegedly offering the child for sexual activity, prosecutors said.

A mother and father are in jail tonight, charged in a Clay County child sexual battery and rape investigation.

Wilber Shepard, 42, is charged with ten counts of sexual battery of a child and two counts of rape of a child.

His wife, 35 year-old Tammy Shepard, is charged with accessory after the fact of rape.

Her bond was set at one hundred thousand dollars.

He says the victims are in protective custody.

Scott believes this is an emotional case, but wants everyone to let investigators do their job.

“A lot of times people jump and start taking sides and drawing their own conclusions, but we strongly recommend you wait until all the facts have been determined. Again, taking care of the victims is the priority,” said Scott.

Scott says the victims are in the custody of the department of human services and are being monitored closely.

The Missing Persons Squad is investigating a Missing Person that occurred on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 7:30 a.m. in Baldwin.

According to detectives, Reggie Florence, 18, left his Bryant Place home and was discovered missing at 1:30 p.m.  The missing suffers from Asperger’s Syndrome.  He was last seen wearing a white shirt, khaki cargo shorts and white/orange Nike sneakers.

A New Jersey man was found guilty on Thursday of sexually assaulting a relative when she was an elementary school student, the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office announced.

Christian Powell, 52, of Toms River, was convicted on 22 counts of child sexual assault. His bail was immediately revoked and he was remanded to jail.

The now 19-year-old victim, who was assaulted starting when she was in third grade and continuing until eight grade, testified at the trial.

An earlier trial ended with a deadlocked jury last October.

Sentencing will be set at a later date after Powell is evaluated at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center, a facility for sex offenders in Avenel.

A Lexington teen was arrested after allegedly trying to run over a group of people.

According to an arrest citation, Cory Cline was driving erratically in a residential area near Garden Springs Drive. He was confronted by a group of witnesses who flagged him down to ask him to slow down. Instead of stopping, police say that Cline sped up toward the group, swerving to avoid them last minute.

Cline has been charged with five counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.

Police in Stanford finally caught up with a Richmond man who was believed to be dressing up like a police officer and walking out of the store with thousands of dollars in merchandise.

It was at the Stanford Walmart where police finally caught 36-year-old Travis Hacker.

It all started about two weeks ago when a loss prevention officer at Walmart, who also happens to be a Deputy Sheriff, approached Hacker and asked who he worked for. Hacker, identified himself as “drug task force.”

Police say Hacker would typically walk into a store in a dress shirt and tie wearing a badge while carrying a gun and handcuffs.

On multiple occasions, they say he would take a television set and walk out of the garden center. He even offered to show a receipt when stopped.

“Confidence doesn’t describe how he looked. He was a cool customer seemed very sure of himself. Very sure of what he was doing and who he represented,” Detective Tim Morris of Stanford Police told LEX 18.

Hacker is currently only facing charges at the Stanford Walmart, but police say he’s got more charges coming from other stores.
