Two people are in the hospital with severe injuries after a crash Friday afternoon in Pulaski County.

It happened at the intersection of north Highway 27 and Highway 70

According to Sheriff Greg Speck, deputies responded to a 911 call of a two vehicle crash near that intersection around 4:30 Friday afternoon. 69-year old Carroll E. Estes of Somerset was headed north on Highway 27 in a black Dodge pickup when he hit a red Dodge neon that crossed Highway 27. The driver of the neon was 21-year old Erica R. Ison of Waynesburg, Kentucky.

Ison was trapped in her car and had to be extricated by the Eubank Fire Department and Pulaski County Rescue Squad. She was then flown to UK Hospital for treatment. Estes was taken to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Preliminary investigations indicated that Ison failed to stop at the intersection of the two roadways.

Leon County Sheriff’s Office deputies are searching for missing man John Wesley Smith.

The 47-year old was last seen at the beginning of February 2016 at the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital ER wearing jeans and an unknown type jacket. Deputies say he typically wears eye glasses and carries a blue book bag.

According to LCSO, Smith is homeless and may possibly be in the area near the Kearney Center on Pensacola Street in Tallahassee.

He is described as 5’08” and 162 pounds.

A Lexington mother avoided jail time when she was sentenced for the death of her adopted son, which the judge called a tragic accident.

The coroner said back in 2011, five-year-old Joseph Adams swallowed a lethal amount of vinegar. However, experts determined that no amount of store bought vinegar could kill someone.

The mother, Deah Adams, later pleaded guilty to criminal abuse.

During sentencing on Friday, the judge empathized with the mother of three. Judge Pamela Goodwine, stated “I think that you have punished yourself beyond any type of punishment I can impose on you and I think to some extent the system has punished you, as well.”

The judge handed down a sentence of two years probation, with six months of that being supervised.

The Sheriff’s Office seeks help in locating missing children Leo E. Townsend and Tyler Morris, both 14.

The two were last seen in the area of Bermont Road, Punta Gorda at 1 p.m. on June 3. They are suspected to be heading to the Lakeland, Fla., area and are not considered to be in any danger, police say.

Townsend is described as 5’2” with black hair and brown eyes in an LSW red shirt and red shorts with white tennis shoes.

Authorities in South Carolina say the case of a New York teen who disappeared during a 2009 spring break trip to Myrtle Beach is officially considered a homicide.

The FBI announced Wednesday it’s offering a $25,000 award for information on Brittanee Drexel.

The Rochester, New York, woman was 17 years old when she was last seen leaving a hotel on Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach in April 2009.

South Carolina Special Agent in Charge David Thomas says Drexel was likely held against her will and killed in the McClellanville area. He says the announcement comes after talking to Drexel’s family about what had been considered a missing-person investigation.

Drexel’s cellphone transmitted its last known signal the day after she disappeared near the South Santee River, between McClellanville and Georgetown.

A man has been arrested and charged for child porn related offenses in Scott County.

Officials say George M. Brock, 40, was arrested following an undercover investigation.

According to KSP, Brock’s investigation began after they discovered the suspect communicating with minors online.

Brock faces charges related to possessing matter portraying a sex performance by a minor and prohibited use of electronic communication system to procure a minor/police officer, according to authorities.

Police say at least one suspect may be connected to a string of gas station robberies that occurred early Friday morning.

Police say the first robbery occurred at the Shell gas station on Nicholasville Road near Southland Drive just after midnight.

Authorities say a man walked into the gas station, wielded a gun and demanded cash.

The suspect fled the scene in a getaway car after a clerk handed over money, officials say.

According to police, the second robbery occurred 10 minutes following the previous robbery.

It happened at the Marathon gas station on Clays Mill Road. Police say the suspect did not get away with any money.

Officials say a third gas station robbery occurred moments after the second.

It happened at the Speedway gas station on Boston Road. Police say this robbery is similar to the robbery at the Nicholasville Road location.

The robberies occurred in a span of less than 20 minutes.

Police are working to obtain surveillance video from all three gas stations burglarized Friday morning.

Officials say the descriptions of the suspect in each robbery are similar.

A man has been arrested in the theft of nearly $44,000 worth of meat from J.B. Swift Co. in Louisville.

Media outlets report an arrest citation released Thursday says 54-year-old Previn Sanford is accused of stealing nine pallets of meat on April 23. Court records say a co-defendant, 52-year-old Michael Sheffield, was arrested April 29.

The men face felony charges of theft by unlawful taking or disposition of property worth more than $10,000.

Police said a surveillance video showed a moving truck backing up to the loading dock. The pallets were loaded into the back of the truck and driven away.

The citation said the owner of the slaughterhouse later found the meat at a grocery store.

A man has been jailed after exchanging sexually explicit emails with a ’15-year-old’ girl – who turned out to be an undercover detective, according to an arrest warrant.

Jeffery S. Turner, 58, placed an ad on Louisville’s Craigslist website seeking “a daughter to play with online. What daddy and daughter do online needs to stay between just daddy and his daughter,” according to the arrest warrant.

According to the Attorney General’s Office, the ad was placed between March 27, 2016 and April 14, 2016.

The warrant says a detective responded to Turner’s ad through email by pretending to be a 15-year-old girl.

The document also says the conversation became sexual after it moved to text messages.

According to the warrant, Turner admitted he created the Craigslist Ad and communicated with a person he believed to be a 15-year-old girl.

The arrest warrant says Turner is charged with prohibited use of electronic communication system to procure minor/police officer for sex.

Turner is currently held on $25,000 bond.

A Metroplex-area man was indicted Wednesday by a Bell County Grand Jury in connection with the January 14 aggravated sexual assault of a 13-year-old Killeen girl.

The Bell County Grand Jury named Colby Laray Stephon Brooks, 29, of Forest Hills, southeast of Fort Worth, in the one count indictment Wednesday.

An arrest affidavit associated with the case says police were sent January 14 to an address in the 1300 block of Karen Drive after a caller reported a sexual assault.

The victim’s mother told police she found a man in her daughter’s bedroom, in the dark, and when the woman told him to get out, he responded saying he was not a “baby raper”, the affidavit says.

After the man left the house, the young victim told her mother the man had touched her inappropriately and that she had sex with him.

During a subsequent interview at the Children’s Advocacy Center, the victim told investigators the sexual abuse had been going on for more than four years, regularly between June 8 and June 20, 2015, the affidavit says.

Brooks remains in custody in the Bell County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond, online jail records show.
