Accident Reconstruction Two Madison Co. Women Killed in Clark Co. Crash

Kentucky State Police confirm that a double fatal crash in Winchester was caused when an elderly man was temporarily blinded by another driver’s high beams.

It happened after 10 p.m. Tuesday night at the intersection of Bypass Road and Colby Road. Officials say the elderly man was driving when a car came behind him with their high beams on. The light reflected in the man’s rear-view mirror and he was temporarily blinded. He told police he didn’t even see the car that he ran into.

http://liarcatchers.com/accident_reconstruction.html

Both women inside that vehicle were killed. The Clark County Coroner’s office has identified the two victims as Sarah Helfrich, 62, of Richmond and Juanetta Mitchell, 35, of Berea.

Police will return to the site Wednesday morning to reconstruct the scene to try to get a better idea of what happened.

No charges are expected to be filed.

Private Detective: Pandora Offers $1K Reward For Info in Theft Case

A jewelry store in the Fayette Mall is offering a $1000 reward for information regarding a $13,000 theft.

The crime happened Sunday at the Pandora in the mall. Surveillance photos captured a man, wearing a NY Yankees cap and light blue shirt that had the word “Southern” on it, in the store. The man wandered around the store when he appeared to notice a key on top of one of the cases. He then picked up the key and left the store.

Video shows him returning a few minutes later with a female wearing a white tank-top with the brand “Pink” written on it.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

The man is shown carrying a large bag from another store. Police tell LEX 18 that the woman then appears to distract the employee and obstruct their view while he opens the case and puts a sleeve with 177 rings inside the bag.

The male remained in the store for an additional 15 minutes before he leaves with the woman.

All the rings taken were size 4.5 and have the initials ALE within the band of the ring. If you recognize the man or the woman, you are asked to call police.

Police say the robbery happened at the Red Roof Inn on Wilhite Drive.

The robbery happened a few months ago, but police are reaching out to the public now in hopes someone has information that can help with their investigation.

The man who robbed the motel was about 6’1’’ and 300 pounds. Police say he walked into the motel lobby around 4:15 p.m. and ordered the woman working the front desk to give him all of the money in the drawer. The woman told police he had a knife.

Back in February, detectives had some leads, but now they need help identifying him.

“We’ve had a couple of different leads on this case, but it’s really not panned out unfortunately. So it’s been a few months, and investigators have done everything we can do on our end, and right now we’re reaching out to the public because we just need that added piece of information, just that one little boost in the investigation to ahead and make a charge,” said Detective Mark Thomas.

The Red Roof Inn employee told police that the man drove off in a tan, four-door car with a sunroof.

Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest. You can call in your tip at (859) 253-2020 or you can text your tip by texting “LEX P-D” plus your tip to CRIMES (274637).

Wrongful Death Ex-Boyfriend of Murdered PA Woman Arrested in KY

Authorities in Clark County, Ky. have arrested the ex-boyfriend of a Pennsylvania woman found dead in her home Monday morning.

Edward Baker Jr. was arrested Tuesday morning near Winchester, Ky. and was charged with fleeing police and wanton endangerment. According to NBC affiliate WPXI, Baker is accused of killing 30-year-old Addaleigh Huzyak, whose body was discovered early Monday.

Baker is a registered sex offender. He had been in communication with a family member via text messages and that police believed he was on his way to Tennessee. Co-workers of Baker notified police after he didn’t show up for work Sunday. They had reason to believe Huzyak was in danger because they had just broken up. An on-the-lookout was issued for Baker shortly after the discovery of Huzyak’s body.
