The Lexington Police Department is asking for the public’s help in their investigation into a shooting that happened Saturday morning outside a Lexington motorcycle club.

Police say around 2:45 a.m. Saturday, January 14, officers were called to the King Cobra Motorcycle Club at 514 East Third Street on a report of shots fired. Officers found 38-year-old Robert Cowan Jr. lying on the ground outside the club suffering an apparent gunshot wound to the head. The Fayette County Coroner confirmed Sunday night Cowan passed away at UK Hospital.

Police say preliminary indications are that several people were in the area at the time of the shooting. There is no motive or suspect description at this time.

Human remains found in Adair County have been identified as a 63-year-old Lexington man.

The remains were found by a real estate agent on December, 19, 2016, at the bottom of an embankment off the northbound side of KY 55 across from United Citizens Bank.

The remains have since been identified as 63-year-old Lawrence R. Chrisman.

The cause of death has yet to be determined. KSP continues to investigate.

A 32-year-old Kansas City man was indicted by a federal grand jury Thursday, accused of the attempted sex trafficking of a minor.

Andrew Danny Freeman was arrested in December after communicating online with an undercover officer who pretended to be the mother of a 12-year-old girl, according to documents filed in U.S. District Court in Kansas City.

Freeman allegedly had traded text messages with the officer in response to an online posting that was part of a prostitution sting.

He went to a hotel allegedly with the intention of meeting the woman and her daughter, and he was arrested after handing over $500 to the officer, according to the documents

A trooper stopped to assist a motorist in Tooele County Thursday, and now that motorist is behind bars and facing murder charges in connection with a missing persons case out of Iowa.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, a trooper responded to a motorist assist call on westbound I-80 near milepost 65 Thursday evening and ultimately identified the driver as 22-year-old Kyle Alexander Jepson of Des Moines, Iowa.

Jepson was arrested on an outstanding burglary warrant, and UHP states he was driving a car associated with an active missing person’s case. Utah authorities contacted police in Iowa, who said a deceased person was found inside the residence related to that missing person’s case.

Friday, Des Moines Police stated Jepson has been charged with murder, robbery and burglary in connection with the case of missing woman Gloria Gary.

Jepson was booked into jail in Utah, where he awaits extradition to Iowa.

Gary was reported missing January 5 of this year.

A father and his two children are dead after a shooting in Whitley County, and investigators believe the wife and mother may have played a role.

Police were called to the home Friday night along 25 West outside of Williamsburg, where the three were found shot in the head. A relative who went to check on the Taylor family after hours of not hearing from them is who notified police just after 10:00 pm Friday night.

Once deputies go to the house they broke in through the back door.

“They had to forcibly open the door , they was met by Courtney Taylor, ” Sheriff Colan Harrell told LEX18’s Evan Gorman.

Sheriff Harrell said Courtney Taylor had a gun in her hand and aimed it at the deputies.

“The officers requested that she put the weapon down, ” Harrell said.

Courtney was shot twice, once in the abdomen and once in the chest. She was later taken to UK Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, in the home, Courtney’s husband, 56-year-old Larry Taylor and two daughters, 18-year-old Jessie Taylor and her 13-year-old sister, shot to death in their beds. The sheriff said they were found in separate rooms with the covers pulled up around them. Investigators say they believe all three victims were asleep at the time of the shooting, however, it is hard to say which order they were shot in.

Detectives are also working to get a time line of the shooting, adding the dad and his daughters might have been killed early Friday morning.

“I haven’t seen this in my 46 years of police work, ” Sheriff Harrell said/

Sheriff Harrell also said there appears to be no sign of an altercation, and there is no word yet on a motive.

KSP has taken over the investigation.

Police said Thursday that investigators are seeking more information about a Fort Worth woman who went missing about a month ago.

The Fort Worth Police Department shared a news release on social media about the search for Rachel Marie Seeton, 29, who hasn’t been seen or heard from since Dec. 13 and was last seen leaving the Drummer Inn Motel, 7313 Camp Bowie West Blvd.

Seeton is described as just under 5 feet tall, about 150 pounds with blonde hair and hazel eyes. The missing person bulletin said Seeton has mental disabilities and needs medication.

Troopers say Charles C. Massey was reported missing by his family.  Police say Massey’s sister spoke to her brother on the phone April 2nd, of ’96, and he hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

Former Paintsville Mayor Bob Porter will spend four years in prison, following his sentencing on federal theft and bribery charges.

Porter was sentenced to 48 months in prison, slightly less than the suggested of 51 to 62 months.

U.S. District Judge Danny Reeves said he took into account Porter’s previous good works and his lack of a criminal record. Porter was found guilty in September following a trial over allegations that he used city and federal money to pay for personal expenses.

Two arrests have been made in the shooting death of a Jessamine County teenager.

Police in Nicholasville responded to the shooting on Garden Park Drive around 7:30 Thursday night after receiving calls from neighbors about gunshots.

“I was sitting inside and I heard three big pops and I thought it was fireworks,” said Audriana Ege, who lives several doors down. “I came outside to go to my car and all of a sudden, here comes the cops and ambulance.”

When officers got to the scene, they found someone lying in the street with several gunshot wounds. Paramedic crews transported the victim to the hospital where he later died.

The coroner identified the victim as 15-year old Leo Travers. He was a student at East Jessamine High School.  Travers was dropped off at Garden Park by a female who had given him a ride at the request of another teen.

18-year-old Tyler Jeffers has been arrested and charged with murder, wanton endangerment, tampering with evidence and receiving a stolen firearm.

A second individual has also been arrested in connection to the case. Albert McKinney, 66, was charged with evidence tampering. McKinney is the grandfather of Jeffers.

Nicholasville Police stayed on scene for several hours reconstructing the crime scene. A motive has not yet been released.

Attorneys for the Lexington man who police say beat his girlfriend to death and then dismembered her body say they want their client to be mentally assessed.

No family was present today during Patrick Jones’s court hearing.  It’s been nearly six months since the gruesome murder of his girlfriend and mother of his child, Haley Bourgeois.

It was last July when police say Jones allegedly beat Haley Bourgeois to death, before cutting up her body up and hiding it in two dumpsters near some apartments.

Days after the murder, Jones pleaded not guilty to murder, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with physical evidence.

Today Jones’s attorneys told the court they are still waiting to get some medical records on their client – and once they are satisfied, they hope to have his mental state evaluated by KCPC.

A friend of Jones at the time of the murder told LEX 18 that he was suffering from mental illness, but they never thought he was capable of a crime like this.

“He had a very bad temper. Anything could set him off. Like, if anyone said anything to him he would start yelling at him. I would tell him ‘dude you need to chill,'” said the friend who wanted to remain anonymous.
