Private Detective, Pulaski Co. Man Charged With Attempted Murder of His Brother

A Pulaski County man faces an attempted murder charge after investigators say he shot several times at his own brother, barely missing him.

The victim, James Abbott, took cover inside his home on Young Rd., Sunday night. Locked inside James made a frantic phone call to 911.

“You need to send an officer, right now. My brother’s out here shooting a gun,” said Abbott.

The suspect was identified as the caller’s own brother, Rodney Abbott. His brother told the dispatcher that the 44-year-old suspect kicked the door of the home, then busted out some glass, trying to get inside.

As the 911 call continues, several gunshots are heard:

Dispatcher: “Sir, hello sir. Have you been shot?”
Caller: “It just grazed my leg.”

The shot ripped through James Abbott’s pant leg and hit a refrigerator in the home.

Investigators say before this all happened, Rodney Abbott called his mother, saying he was going to kill James.

The suspect eventually fled the scene and a constable was able to stop and arrest Rodney Abbott just down the road.
