Private Detective: Woman Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries In Hit and Run

Witnesses say an accident that left a woman fighting for her life stemmed from an incident on social media.

Police say a fight broke out between people in two cars and a juvenile intentionally backed over the victim.

The incident all played out around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon on the intersection of Harrodsburg and Lane Allen in front of witnesses.

According the Lexington police, a Kia and an Accord were waiting, one in front of the other in the turn lane. Officers say a passenger in the Kia pulled a gun on the people in the Honda.

When a female in the Accord got out, police say the juvenile driver of the Kia intentionally backed up and hit her before fleeing the scene. The Kia was tracked down a short time later.

The victim was taken to UK hospital with life-threatening injuries to her and her leg.

A witness, Liz Ording, was in the vehicle behind the two cars. She watched the scene in horror.

“If those people are crazy enough to smash someone’s leg into pieces and hit them and run they’re crazy and they can fire off a gun and it could’ve hit me. I was right behind them,” says Ording.

The owner of the Kia says what happened on the scene likely stemmed from a situation that began over Facebook. Robbery/Homicide is investigating.
