Private Detective: Home Invasion Victim Says Facebook Helped Find Suspect

A Crime Stoppers person of the week, accused in a violent home invasion, was arrested on Monday. One of the victims of the crime said social media help put that 20-year-old Charles Reeves behind bars.

One of the three young women robbed at gunpoint, and tied up in their home in front of a child, spoke with LEX 18 News about the crime.

It happened on Old Paris Road in Lexington, three weeks ago. Police said one man came knocking on a door, then minutes later two other men robbed the people inside that home.

For the victims, Facebook helped solve what seemed like a random crime. “I seriously thought I was going to die,” said one of the victims. It’s a thought that haunts this woman, and why she didn’t want to show her face.

“When a gun is pointed to your head, you think, is this going to be my last day?” said the woman. Thankfully, January 20th wasn’t. Now there is an arrest in the case.

“Facebook played a big part,” said the woman. However, before social media, she said it all started when a man came knocking at the door.

It was a Tuesday morning at around 9 a.m. when the man asked if the woman’s fiance was hiring. Her fiance runs a construction business out of their house, however that morning he was not home. Minutes after the strange man left, the woman said Reeves and another man burst inside the house.

“He kept telling me this ain’t a joke, don’t turn this robbery into a homicide,” said the woman. She said Reeves tied all three of the women up in the bathtub, as their little girl hid upstairs. Then the victims said the men demanded money and threatened the women’s lives. Eventually the victims said the men ran off with money.

After police were called, the women’s fiance got a tip. “He got a phone call that said I know who did it,” said the woman. The tip said to look at a former employee’s son on Facebook. Under the profile name “Fatman Jones,” the woman said they saw pictures of Reeves.

“I thought it was crazy because I had just seen him in here,” said the woman.

Now Reeves is behind bars, and instead of police lights outside the family’s house, security cameras scatter the walls. Still, as they watch social media, they’re waiting with hopeful anticipation of more arrests.

“I mean, I feel relief. But, I know there’s other people out there too,” said Reeves.

Investigators are still looking for the other two men involved in this crime. If you have any information as to who they are, you’re asked to call Lexington Police.
