Private Detective: Suspects in Robbery Spree Lead Officers on Pursuit

Two people have been charged after Lexington Police say that they went on a robbery spree that led to a police chase overnight. Now police say an infant girl was also in the car.

The first incident happened at the Waffle House on Richmond Road before 2:00 a.m. The suspects implied they had a weapon and fled. Just a half-hour later, a second Waffle House location was robbed on Walden Drive. The spree culminated with the robbery of a Shell Station on Nichols Park.

A pursuit began around Man o’ War and Versailles Road after police spotted the suspects. It ended in Woodford County where the vehicle went into a ditch. Initially police say the suspects would not comply and a k-9 was sent in.

Three people, including a 17-year-old girl, were taken into custody. The 17-year-old has not been charged in the incident. Adonis Patino is charged with first degree robbery and second degree robbery. Jorge Zumiga is charged with wanton endangerment and fleeing and evading.

A newborn baby girl was also in the vehicle. Police say she was less than a month old and the daughter of Zumiga and the 17-year-old.

The infant was taken to the hospital as a precaution. She was determined to be uninjured.
