Missing Person Escaped Inmate Found in Lincoln Co. Neighborhood

Investigators say an escaped inmate was taken back into custody thanks to vigilant neighbors and a swift response from multiple law enforcement agencies.

The inmate, David Hall, was on his way to jail from Garrard County when he escaped in Lincoln County.

Law enforcement officials searched for the inmate in a neighborhood off of Hwy 27 in Lincoln County.

Hall was being taken from the Garrard County Court House to the Lincoln County Regional Jail when he kicked out the back window of the prisoner transport van and escaped.

“He had come across the handcuff key and he had gotten rid of his jumpsuit and unshackled himself,” explained Deputy Rob Oney with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say that neighbors were able to help them pinpoint the escapee’s location.

“People out mowing the yard or sitting on the porch you know pointed us in directions they last saw him running,” said Oney.

Police say Hall forged his way into one home in only a T-shirt and underwear. He demanded the homeowners to give him clothes.

Within thirty minutes, the law caught up with Hall

“He was at a trailer talking to somebody, maybe seeking help or refuge. I knew who he was. I put him in a prone position and cuffed him,” said Major Tony Miracle with the Lincoln County Regional Jail.

Investigators are now trying to figure out how Hall was able to get the key cuffs in the first place.

Hall was in court for Assault and Drug Trafficking charges. He is now facing escapee charges and may face further charges pending investigation.
