Eighteen-year-old Gastelle was reported missing to the Takoma Park Police on April 3, 1980.

Almost two years later, on February 12, 1982, Prince William County Police found skeletal remains on Bull Run Mountain near Mountain Road in the Haymarket area. In 2001, DNA from the case was entered into the national database. That same year, DNA from her family members was collected in an unrelated case in another jurisdiction. Then, on May 10 of this year, Prince William County Police and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Virginia, was notified of a DNA match from that DNA to the skeletal remains found in 1982.

The Prince William County Police are investigating the case as a homicide. If you have any information relating to this case, please call Crime Solvers at 703-670-3700 or 1-866-411-TIPS.

Electronic Surveillance Captures Burning Woman

Police in South Florida have released surveillance video of a gas station attack that left a burning mother screaming for help.

It happened in Boynton Beach, and the woman can be seen trying to hold the doors of the convenience store shut to keep a man at bay.

Police say the attacker, 59-year-old Roosevelt Mondesir, is the father of the victim’s four-year-old son.

Investigators say the man snatched the 40-year-old woman from the protection of the store, poured gas on her, ignited the fire and took off. Officers arrived to find the woman engulfed in flames.

The police rushed to extinguish the fire and take the woman to a hospital. Investigators say about two-hours later, officers tracked the suspect down and took him into custody.

He now faces an attempted first-degree murder charge.

Pedophile Tracking Troy Greenup

One boy refused to sleep alone, fearing Troy Greenup “would find him,” a Jefferson Parish prosecutor said in court papers. Another boy said nothing about his encounters “until many years later because defendant specifically threatened him with a ‘whooping’ if he were to tell anyone about their ‘secret,'” Assistant District Attorney Sunny Funk wrote.

“Both of the boys also indicated that the defendant acted in such a manner that made them afraid to tell anyone about the incidents,” Funk wrote.

Both boys eventually spoke up. Greenup, 40, is on trial this week for aggravated rape in the latter case, accused of committing “multiple incidents” of sexually abusing the child he threatened to beat.

Those alleged incidents happened between August 2001 and November 2004, beginning when he was 3 years old, according to the indictment. The boy, now 14, is not being identified.

Arrested in February 2011 in Waggaman for a warrant issued by the Westwego Police Department and indicted a year ago, Greenup is held in the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in Gretna. He would spend the rest of his life in prison with no chance of probation, parole or suspended sentence if convicted as charged this week.

Jury selection began Tuesday in 24th Judicial District Judge June Darensburg’s court.

Greenup also awaits trial on a charge of sexual battery in the former case, involving a boy who is now 8 years old.

That incident allegedly happened between February 2009 and March 2009, when child was 3 years old, according to the indictment. Greenup was friends with the child’s parent, prosecutors say.

The child “mistakenly thought this behavior to be normal because of defendant’s repeated demands and touching, and his Grandmother discovered the abuse when (he) asked her to ‘touch his bone,’ like (Greenup) had done …,” Funk said in court papers.

Seeking to tell the jury this week about Greenup’s alleged history, Funk said in court documents that he was arrested in 1990 for sexual battery, when a juvenile girl went to his residence to borrow ketchup. He allegedly let her in, undressed her and was in the process of sexually abusing her when a knock at the door brought the event to an end.

Greenup’s public defender Andy Duffy said in court papers that the Jefferson Parish district attorney’s office refused to prosecute that case.

Assistant District Attorney Brandon Kinnett is prosecuting the case with Funk.

MIssing Person Edward Naklicki

LYONS, Ill. (CBS) — Police dogs were brought out Tuesday to search a west suburban forest preserve for a 59-year old Chicago man who has been missing since late last week.

As WBBM Newsradio’s Bernie Tafoya reports, electrical contractor Edward Naklicki has been missing since Friday, when his wife last saw him as she hugged and kissed him before going off to work.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

She tearfully tells WBBM Newsradio she can’t understand what has happened. “Everything was OK. We have good life,” she said.

Today is the couple’s second wedding anniversary.

Barbara Naklicki, along with family, friends and police were searching the Ottawa Trails Woods near Lyons, where Naklicki’s white Ford contractor’s van was found in a parking lot yesterday.

Son-in-law Andres Lopez says relatives “don’t know what to speculate. Did he walk out and fall and hurt himself? Did somebody do something to hurt him? We don’t know.”

Lopez says his father-in-law was a happy-go-lucky person and never would have hurt himself.

Lopez says police found Naklicki’s lunchbox in his van and it still had food in it.

He says a check with the southwest side man’s cell phone carrier determined the last outgoing call was sometime Friday.

The family says they think they would have been on a trail toward finding Naklicki sooner had someone with the Chicago Police Department not erred in taking down Naklicki’s vehicle information. Lopez says the Cook County Forest Preserve District Police first spotted the van in the woods on Sunday night, but didn’t connect it with any missing person because nothing popped up on their computers.

Drug Dog Sweep Cory A Seiler Arrested

A traffic stop for an equipment violation turned into a substantial drug bust for Baraboo police Saturday afternoon.

At 4:47 p.m. Sunday, police stopped a car at Lynn Avenue and South Boulevard after noticing the driver had plastic covering his driver’s-side window.

http://liarcatchers.com/drugdogsweeps.html

“The officer who made the stop knew the driver is required to have safety glass, and not plastic taped to the door,” Baraboo Police Chief Mark Schauf said.

“A driver must be able to roll down his or her window to safely signal to other drivers when making a turn. It was a good observation by the officer to stop this car.”

Schauf said the officer used the department’s drug dog to inspect the car.

The driver, Cory A. Seiler, 51, of Baraboo, allegedly had hidden cocaine and marijuana in his pockets and inside the vehicle.

Police found 11 grams of cocaine and 28 grams of marijuana with estimated street values of $1,500 and $400, respectively.

“It was definitely a good bust for us,” Schauf said. “It also shows what a great tool the drug canine is for our department and city.”

Seiler was charged with possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He also was cited for operating under the influence of a controlled substance.

Seiler is expected to make an appearance in Sauk County Circuit Court Tuesday.

Missing Person Claudia Gordon

MIAMI TWP. — A 43-year-old woman is considered a “critical missing” person because she hasn’t been seen since Sunday and needs medications.

Claudia Gordon, who lives on Deerfield Road in this Clermont County community, went missing around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, a news release said Tuesday evening.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Early on Tuesday, police said they were notified that Gordon had a phone conversation with her mother Sunday evening and said she was calling from Clermont Mercy Hospital. Gordon said she was suffering from a headache and was “checking herself into the hospital,” police said, noting that records do show that Gordon did register at the emergency room but before medical professionals examined her.

“According to family and medical authorities, Gordon has been diagnosed with depression and paranoid schizophrenia. Ms. Gordon is also a diabetic and currently without her medication,” a news release said

While at the hospital, she was wearing blue jean Capri pants with sparkles, a black-and-white shirt and black flip-flops with animal-print straps. She was driving a 1995 dark blue Toyota Camry four-door bearing Ohio License EAC 3621. The “Toyota” nameplate on the rear of the car is missing the letter, “a,” so it reads, “Totot,” police said.

“We’re concerned for Ms. Gordon’s safety due to the nature of her medical diagnosis and lack of access to her medication,” said Miami Township police Sgt. Al Fatute. “We’re hopeful that someone will recognize Ms. Gordon or her vehicle and call us so we can assist in her safe return home.”

Anyone with information on Gordon’s whereabouts should contact the Miami Township Police Department through the Clermont County Communications Center at 513-732-2231.

Wrongful Death Braylee Rae Henry

DUNCAN — Miles Sterling Bench, 21, of Velma, appeared Monday just before noon, in Stephens County District Court for the first time and officially was charged with murder in the first degree in the death of Braylee Rae Henry, 16, of Velma.

On behalf of the victim and the state of Oklahoma, Stephens County District Attorney Jason Hicks asked no bond be set for Bench.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Judge Jerry Herberger granted the request and after hearing Hicks statements said he believed there was sufficient evidence to hold Bench without bond. Herberger also cited public safety as an additional factor to hold Bench in the Stephens County Jail.

Several members of Henry’s family were in the courtroom to hear the state present its charges against Bench. Hicks addressed the missing person reports that had been filed that night, evidence found in the back room of the convenience store where Bench worked and also items found in Henry’s car. Bench is also being charged with larceny of an automobile.

The family remained quiet as they listened to Hicks share evidence surrounding Henry’s death.

Hicks said a missing person report had been filed on the evening of June 6 for the clerk of the Tee Pee Totem convenience store, Bence, in Velma. Hicks said officers found a pool of blood about 18-inches in diameter in the back room of the store. During the investigation, a second missing person report was issued for Henry.

Hicks told the court officers then went to the home of Bench’s grandparents. It was in a secluded area near that home where Henry’s body was found, according to law enforcement.

Two things led to the quick discovery of Henry, Sheriff Wayne McKinney said, after the courtroom hearing. One was a witness had seen Henry’s vehicle traveling east on Oklahoma 7. The other was a video surveillance tape from another Velma business that backed up what the witness had seen and reported.

Additionally, Hicks said Bench had provided unsolicited comments when he was arrested by Custer County Sheriff’s Office deputies, near Weatherford, and again in the presence of DA Task Force Supervisor Justin Scott.

“I think I (expletive) up. I think I killed somebody earlier tonight,” Hicks said Bench had shared while in custody at Custer County. That statement was also in the report filed by the state.

Hicks said blood also was found in the vehicle and on Bench, the alleged suspect.

“Further investigation items found in the vehicle were peroxide, haircolor, razors and a change of clothes. We believe he was trying to flee not only Stephens County but also the state of Oklahoma,” Hicks said.

Prior to Hicks presenting his evidence for denial of bond, Herberger informed Bench he would be represented by attorney Don Herron only for the purpose of the formal charges. He indicated Bench did want to complete the paperwork to be considered for court-appointed counsel.

Bench’s next court appearance is a preliminary hearing set for 9 a.m. Aug. 13.

McKinney said he has requested reports from the medical examiner and OSBI be expedited and expects initial reports to be completed this week.

“Out of respect for her family, I don’t want to release a lot of details. We are trying to be sensitive to their feelings,” he said.
