Pedophile Tracking Phoenix Woman Arrested After Child Porn Discovered

Phoenix police have arrested a woman after they intercepted internet images that showed a toddler being sexually abused.

Officer James Holmes with the Phoenix Police Department tells Fox 10 that detectives with the Arizona Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force conducted an extensive and exhaustive investigation to find the residence where the images were taken.

Once they found the home, the detectives successfully rescued a 3-year-old and a 6-year-old.  Officers also found 26-year-old Roxanne Chapin in the home.

During an interview, Chapin admitted to molesting the two victims, taking photos of the abuse and creating child pornography, Holmes said. Chapin also admitted to distributing the images.

During a search of Chapin’s home, detectives located additional images of the children being sexually victimized. Chapin was also in possession of images of other children being sexually abused, according to Holmes.

Chapin was subsequently charged with one count of child molestation, two counts of sexual conduct with a minor and 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

Anyone who may have information concerning these crimes is encouraged to call the Internet Crimes Against Children Detail, Sergeant Jerry Barker at 623-466-1828 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO for Spanish.

Pedophile Tracking Man Who Fathered Child With 11 Year Old Gets 15 Years

A convicted sex offender was sentenced to 15 years in prison for fathering a child with an 11-year-old girl in western New York.

Jacky Berry of Niagara Falls had pleaded guilty on charges of having a sexual relationship with the girl in 2010.

The girl, now 16, gave birth to a son in 2011. Authorities say DNA testing confirmed Berry, 53, was the father.

Berry also was convicted in 1990 for sexually abusing a 7-year-old girl and served eight years in prison.

The Buffalo News reported that Berry offered an apology in court Friday but refused to be interviewed by a probation officer.

“He didn’t feel there was anything to add,” defense attorney James Faso Jr. said. “He had a child with this child, and feels terrible he made her grow up faster than she should grow up.”

Judge Sara Sheldon also imposed 20 years of post-release supervision for Berry, saying, “This is in essence a life sentence.”

Identity Theft Man Arrested For Cashing Dead Nephew’s Social Security Checks

Winter Garden police arrested a man they said was cashing checks for someone who has been dead for nearly five years.

Channel 9’s Jeff Deal learned the suspect was cashing the checks at a business that was at the center of multimillion-dollar check-cashing fraud investigation.

Winter Garden police said Johnny Calvert cashed the Social Security checks at DJs Discount Market for more than four years.

Lt. Scott Allen, of the Winter Garden Police Department, said Johnny Calvert was cashing checks made out to his nephew, Donnie Calvert, who died in 2010.Identity Theft Man Arrested For Cashing Dead Nephew’s Social Secuirty Checks

http://liarcatchers.com/identity_theft_investigation.html

“It’s just crazy someone would take advantage of the system like that,” said Allen. “Several of the checks were cashed, totaling over $37,000 in funds.”

Police said Johnny Calvert told them he kept getting the checks and cashing them because his nephew owed him money.

“He’s a good person,” said Johnny Calvert’s sister, Barbara John. “If you walked up to him and said, ‘Can I borrow a dollar,’ he’d hand it to you.”

Last year, the owners of DJs pleaded guilty in federal court to a scheme where investigators said they bought more than $24 million in fraudulent IRS checks for 50 cents on the dollar, then deposited the checks into their own accounts.

Some of those fraudulent checks were also from deceased people, authorities said.

In Johnny Calvert’s case, police said the store owners may not have known Donnie Calvert died.

“Everyone talks about how Social Security is going to be an issue in the future, so when you have somebody defrauding the department itself, it’s not helping out,” said Allen.

Of the 47 checks cashed, police said they’ve connected Johnny Calvert to 21 of them. They are still investigating to see if other people may have been involved.

DJs Discount Market has since changed names and is under new ownership.
