Accident Reconstruction Harrison County Teen Dies in Crash

Deputies in Pendleton County say a teenager is dead after a crash Monday afternoon. It happened on U.S. 27 just before 1 p.m.

Deputies say 18-year-old Bradlee Beagle of Cynthiana was driving a 2008 Chevy pickup and swerved to avoid hitting the car in front of him. That car had apparently stopped to avoid hitting an animal.

Investigators say Beagle crossed the 3-lane roadway and went over an embankment, flipping several times. The passenger in the truck, 18-year-old Darin Williams of Cynthiana, was ejected and pronounced dead on the scene. Investigators say Williams was not wearing a seat belt.

Officials with Harrison County High School say they will have counseling available for students who knew Williams. They say this is the second student from their senior class to die in a car accident in just two months.

Missing Person Bodies of Missing GA Couple Believed To Be Found

Two bodies believed to be those of a missing Cobb County couple were found Monday, sheriff’s officials said.

Police found the bodies, along with the couple’s SUV, in a pond in Telfair County.

Telfair County Sheriff Chris Steversen said the bodies were those of a man and a woman.

Bud Runion, 69, and June Runion, 66, of Marietta were last seen Thursday. They were leaving for Telfair County, south of Macon, to buy a car that they found listed on Craigslist.

“My heart goes out to the Runion family. We’ve done everything we possibly could do to get this family found, get their parents found, unfortunately it’s a sad outcome, but hopefully there will be some closure knowing that they have been located,” Steverson said Monday.

A suspect in the case is in custody. Police said 28-year-old Ronnie “Jay” Towns turned himself in to the Telfair County Sheriff’s Department Monday morning.

Towns is accused in the couple’s disappearance.

Steversen named Towns as a suspect in the case Sunday. He told Channel 2’s Liz Artz that investigators questioned him in the case, and issued warrants for his arrest.

The warrants were for making false statements to investigators and criminal attempt to commit theft by deception.

Authorities say Towns was the last person to talk to the couple, via phone, before their disappearance.

The couple’s daughters said both their parents had cell phones, but they had not been heard from since they left at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Their daughters told Channel 2’s Liz Arts Saturday that they first became concerned when their parents did not show up to babysit their grandchildren on Friday.

“We are worried that someone might have done something bad and taken advantage of them,” daughter Brittany Patterson said.

The couple’s daughters held back tears as they talked about their last conversation with their parents.

“He was excited about the car. He had one when he got back from Vietnam,” daughter Stephanie Bishop said. Bud Runion was going to purchase a 1966 Ford Mustang, his daughters said.

They said they were focused on finding their parents, and were trying to remain hopeful.

“If someone has taken them, we have forgiven that person, because God tells us to love and forgive,” daughter Virgina Owens said.

They told Artz Sunday that they were encouraged by the naming of a suspect in the case.

“It’s not a dead end. You know there is still a trail,” Bishop said.

Several law enforcement agencies were involved in a massive search for the couple throughout the weekend.

Steversen said no additional charges have been filed against Towns. He said autopsy results would be assessed in order to move forward.

Cold Case Body Found in 1979 Identified

A body found in a New York cornfield in 1979 has been identified as that of a Brooksville teenager.

Tammy Jo Alexander, who was born in 1963, went missing between 1977 and 1979. Alexander was a student at Hernando High School.

Alexander’s family had never reported her as a missing person to any law enforcement agency.

Officials said her disappearance was finally reported in August 2014, when a former classmate and friend, Laurel Nowell, who now lives in Arizona, called the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office to report her as missing.

Investigators contacted Alexander’s stepsister, Sharen Nelson of Lakeland, and confirmed that Alexander was missing and that her family had never reported it to authorities.

Deputies said Alexander’s half-sister, Pamela Dyson of Panama City, was also contacted and confirmed that her half-sister had been missing since sometime between 1977 and 1979.

Officials said investigators entered Alexander’s information into the Florida Crime Information Center database and the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System.

On Jan. 7, deputies were notified of an unidentified deceased female whose DNA matched that of Alexander.

According to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, the body of a female between the ages of 13 and 19 was found on Nov. 10, 1979 in a cornfield, and that she had been the victim of a homicide.

Fraud Investigation Accomplice in Handyman Scam Arrested

The woman who investigators say helped a man dubbed the “handyman scammer” commit theft has turned herself in.

Lisa Kay Tornow, 53, is scheduled to be arraigned Monday. She turned herself into the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office Sunday afternoon, police said.

She has been indicted by a grand jury with five counts of first-degree theft and two counts of second-degree theft.

Police said she assisted Clinton Timothy Reany, 58, who detectives have described as a career criminal when it comes to defrauding people.

http://liarcatchers.com/fraud_investigation.html

Reany, who has more than 20 felony convictions on his record, appeared in court last week and entered a not guilty plea to an indictment that charges him with 11 counts of identity theft, two counts of second-degree theft, six counts of operating without a contractor’s license, five counts of first-degree theft, seven counts of theft by deception, three counts of first-degree criminal mischief, one count each of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Court records show that Reany used the names “Rick Mintkenbaugh” and “Dan Reany” to unlawfully deceive and defraud. He is also accused of using the business names of “Concrete Solutions,” “Dan’s Painting” and “Concrete Plus” as part of his scheme to defraud his victims, court records show.

Police said Reany was able to steal more than $5,000 from his victims.

Anyone with information on the alleged scam run by Reany is asked to call Detective Teresa Uttke at 503. 823.0969.

Pedophile Tracking Amarillo Man Sentenced to 120 Years

An Amarillo man received two life sentences and a combined 120 year prison term after being convicted on child sex and pornography charges, police said Friday.

Paul John Martinez was sentenced in 251st District Court on ten counts of possession of child pornography, one count of indecency with a child by sexual contact, and two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, police said.

Martinez received the maximum sentence possible for each of the 13 charges, police said. He was sentenced to 10 years on each charge of possession of child pornography, 20 on the indecency charge, and one life sentence for each count of aggravated sexual assault of a child.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

On Oct. 22, 2013, Randall County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Martinez on the 10 counts of child pornography after Amarillo police executed a search warrant in his house, police said.

That arrest stemmed from an Oct. 5, 2013 incident in which officers responded to a call at a south Amarillo apartment complex, police said. A young woman told police she thought a child relative had entered Martinez’s apartment and engaged in sexual contact with him, authorities said.

At the apartment complex, witnesses told police they suspected Martinez had used a computer to show pornographic images to children, authorities said. Martinez returned to the apartment complex that evening and police detained him, seizing a laptop and flash drive, police said.

Investigators interviewed Martinez. The investigation did not yield enough evidence for an arrest, but police got enough information to secure a search warrant for his apartment, police said. Authorities searched the apartment in the early morning of Oct. 6, 2013, and seized three computers and numerous CDs, police said.

Investigators found evidence of child pornography, and on Oct. 18, 2013, the Randall County District Attorney’s office accepted a criminal complaint against Martinez, police said.
