Drug Dog Sweep Sacramento Man Indicted After Drug Detection Dog Sniffs Out Meth

A traffic stop and a dog with a sensitive nose led to the indictment of a Sacramento man on drug charges.

A federal grand jury in Fresno on Thursday returned a one-count indictment against Wenceslao Cruz Ochoa, 34, charging him with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, according to a U.S. Attorney’s Office news release.

http://liarcatchers.com/drugdogsweeps.html

Court documents indicate that Ochoa was stopped Nov. 13 by a Fresno County sheriff’s deputy for a moving violation on Interstate 5. A dog trained in the detection of controlled substances alerted the deputy to the presence of drugs, which prompted a search of the vehicle. Approximately 19 pounds of methamphetamine was located inside a suitcase, authorities said.

Fraud Investigation Man Cashing Fake Checks Also Acted in Cincinnati

Still no identification, but the plot is thickening in the case of a man who’s posing as a Time Warner employee and cashing bad checks.

Lexington police have a case on the unidentified suspect that dates back to 2012. And after a little digging, LEX 18 Crime Stoppers reporter Kristen Pflum found a case out of Florence from 2012 that shows the same man was posing as a Cincinnati Bell employee.

http://liarcatchers.com/fraud_investigation.html

So for two years, this suspect has been cashing in on his scam.

But the question remains – who is he?

LEX 18 has been reporting on the unidentified man since Wednesday when Versailles and Richmond police released his photo. On Thursday, more reports come out of Powell and Casey counties.

Around central Kentucky, the man wears a Time Warner cable polo shirt and ID badge each time he cashes a check with a Time Warner emblem on it. And every time he succeeds, it’s 367.54 in his pocket.

His photo has circulated and been shared several times from the LEX 18 Facebook page, but no tips have come in, which leads police to believe he’s not from around the area.

Private Detective: Second Man Arrested in Connection to Robbery That Led to Winburn Standoff

A second man was arrested in connection to a robbery at a Lexington game shop for which police also arrested a man in the Winburn area Thursday afternoon after a brief standoff.

19-old Cardreus Winter was arrested in connection to two robberies at the Game Stop in the North Park shopping center featured on LEX 18 Crime Stoppers.

Police say Winter and 18-year-old Duquion Baxter robbed the store in September and, according to Winter’s arrest citation, he went back to rob the same store alone in November.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

Baxter was arrested a few minutes before Winter on Thursday after a brief standoff in the Winburn neighborhood across the street from Winburn Middle.

Police say they arrived at an apartment complex to serve a warrant on Baxter, who refused to get out. A negotiator and a special unit were brought out to the scene.

The nearby schools were put on high alert and neighbors were asked to stay inside their homes, while others couldn’t drive into the neighborhood since Winburn Drive was blocked coming from Russell Cave Road.

Baxter was arrested about 30 minutes later.

On Baxter’s warrant, he is accused of shooting his brother in the hand in early November.

Baxter’s charged with first degree robbery and second degree assault.

Both men are set to appear in court on their charges later Friday.

Pedophile Tracking 17 Year Old Arrested in Child Porn Bust Posed as a 6th Grader

Hurst police say they have arrested two people — a 17-year-old who posed as a sixth-grader at an elementary school and a man who posed as his father — after seizing evidence of child pornography from a Fort Worth home earlier this week.

In a news release, Hurst police said they raided the home in the 2100 block of David Drive based on a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

During the raid Tuesday, police seized a “large amount” of evidence of child pornography and exploitation of children, police said.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

Sgt. Craig Teague said the evidence led police to arrest Ricardo Lugo, 17, and Randy Ray Wesson, 28. The two are not related, but evidence from the home links them together, Teague said.

Wesson was home when police arrived to execute a search warrant. He was arrested and charged with possession with the intent to promote child pornography, sale or display of harmful material and tampering with government record. His bail was set at $3 million.

Lugo was at Hurst Hills Elementary, where he was enrolled as a sixth grader, at the time of the raid.

Child Protective Services removed him from the school because authorities initially thought he was 12 years old.

But they soon learned Lugo had used counterfeit documents to gain enrollment at the school.

In an email, Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD spokeswoman Judy Ramos said that the school followed the usual procedures when Lugo enrolled in August.

“There was no indication that the student’s records were forged or that the student was too old to attend elementary school,” she said. “The student’s behavior at school also did not raise any concerns.”

Ramos said Lugo was not arrested at the school.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Department of Public Safety helped Hurst police identify Lugo, who was listed in their records as a missing person from Mexico, Teague said.

Lugo was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography. His bail was set at $250,000.

Teague said detectives are trying to figure out why Lugo lied about his age. They are also working with school officials to determine if students from Hurst Hills Elementary were victimized, Teague said.

“This is like running in wildfire right now, as far as the information we have received,” he said. “It all takes time to process and analyze.”

Detectives believe there may be other victims in this case. Police are asking anyone with information about the case — or a possible leads — call 817-788-7146.
