Accident Reconstruction Fatal KY Speedway Crash Investigated

A month after a man was killed at the Kentucky Speedway his family still has no answers and now prosecutors are pressing the Gallatin County sheriff’s office to open the case.

Last month, 30-year-old Cox was driving a race car at the “Rusty Wallace Racing Experience” around the track in Sparta alone when he crashed into a wall.

Track officials say there’s no video available because Cox didn’t buy that feature of the experience. That answer is not good enough for Cox’s family whose attorney, Gary Leppla, is speaking out on their behalf.

http://liarcatchers.com/accident_reconstruction.html

“We understand the car was quickly removed from the scene and we understand the vehicle is in R.I. now,” said Leppla. “People talk about suits and litigation. We don’t know what this will come to, but you’ve got a family that’s devastated and they deserve the right to answers.”

The family’s attorney is asking anyone with video or pictures of what they saw to come forward.

The Gallatin County sheriff’s office is now looking into the incident a month after the crash.

Wrongful Death Additional Details For Man Accused of Killing Girlfriend’s Son

The case against a man accused of killing his girlfriend’s toddler son has been waived to a grand jury.

Joseph Adams was scheduled for a preliminary hearing Wednesday morning, but his attorney waived it sending the case to the grand jury.

The 25-year-old was watching his girlfriend’s 13-month-old son at a Junction City home earlier this month when the boy was somehow hurt.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

The Danville Advocate Messenger reported that investigators found severe injuries to the boy’s head and body, and signs of apparent sexual abuse.

The paper says according to a Kentucky State Police citation, Adams was under the influence of alcohol at the time.

According to court documents, Adams told police the boy’s 2-year-old sister assaulted her brother and caused the injuries. Police noted the story was not consistent with the extent of the injuries.

The toddler was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Adams has pleaded not guilty and is still being held in the Boyle County Detention Center with no bond.

Wrongful Death Body of Pregnant Ohio Woman Found

The body of a missing pregnant 22-year-old Ohio woman was found and her boyfriend is under arrest, charged with her murder, authorities told ABC News.

Samantha Greenlee had been missing since Oct. 8.

Her boyfriend, Jacob Ferrero, 22, who’s also the father of her unborn child, was arrested by the Columbus Police Department this morning. He’s charged with murder and aggravated arson, and he is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday, according to the arrest report.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Ferrero gave a full confession to a fire investigator before leading police to the location of Greenlee’s body, authorities told ABC News.

Greenlee was last seen working her waitressing shift at a local restaurant before heading home, police said. Two days later, she missed a doctor’s appointment –- and a fire broke out in the apartment, with Ferrero telling police that their dog kicked over a candle, igniting the fire.

He later confessed to starting the fire as a way to cover up Greenlee’s death, authorities said.

The developments in the case come hours after family and friends held a vigil, hoping for Greenlee’s safe return.

“She was a caring person. She always thought about other people,” her father Douglas Greenlee told ABC News on Tuesday. “She would do stuff for others before she would think about herself.”

Greenlee’s mother Winnie Chutes said it was uncommon for her daughter to go so long without contact.

“Samantha would have contacted us by now. There’s a reason why she’s not contacting us,” Chutes said.

Cold Cases Austin Police Department Combing Through After Accused Serial Killer Arrested

Austin Police are looking through cold cases, continuing to investigate whether an accused Indiana serial killer had any victims in Austin. Darren Vann, 43, of Indiana is accused of killing seven women. Before he lived in Indiana, Vann called Central Texas his home.

According to Austin Police, there are 167 cases assigned to the missing persons and cold case unit. While some families are hoping Darren Vann’s arrest will bring them answers, others say, after decades of wondering what happened to their loved ones, they know better than to get their hopes up.

http://liarcatchers.com/cold_cases.html

“She was very outgoing, bubbly… definitely had an attitude and personality. She was just a leader,” Rosalynn Paltauf says of her older sister, Roxanne.

Roxanne Paltauf went missing near a north Austin motel in July of 2006. Not a day goes by that her family doesn’t wonder what happened.

“It’s a horrible cycle to be stuck in,” says Rosalynn.

After Darren Vann allegedly confessed to murdering seven women in Indiana, Austin Police began combing through missing persons and cold case files.

“We try to get as much information as we can about that individual… his whereabouts, her whereabouts, where they lived –any involvement they’ve had within the city with the police department or any other agencies– and try to develop a very tight, concise timeline of that person’s activities… when they came to Austin and when they may have left,” explains Austin Police Department Lt. Scott Ehlert. Austin Police would not answer specific questions regarding Vann, but spoke generally about how they respond to a situation like his.

Roxanne’s family is interested in Vann’s case. They want to know if he has any information about what happened to her.

“It crosses my mind. Is that the answer we’ve been looking for? Closure?” asks Rosalynn.

However, the Paltauf family isn’t getting their hopes up. They say they know this arrest, 1,000 miles away, could very well mean nothing for Roxanne’s case.If that’s so, they hope it can bring new leads and peace for others.

“Even if it doesn’t help our family out, hopefully it can help someone else out because I know exactly what they’re going through. If someone… if another family can have that closure, it’d be all worth it,” says Rosalynn.

Rosalynn says Roxanne went missing at age 18. She was the oldest of 5 siblings. Anyone with information about Roxanne’s disappearance or any missing person/cold cases in Austin can call reports tips to (512) 472-TIPS. The Austin Police Department has 7 detectives working on missing persons and cold cases.
