A Lexington couple needs help finding a statue with sentimental value that was stolen from their front yard.

The Watsons live the corner of Cold Harbor and Mason Headley Road. On their front lawn is now an empty patch of dirt where a once colorful accent made caught the eye’s of many drivers.

Watson said he and his wife bought a foal statue at a Lexington Horsemania auction several years ago. The foal, named ‘Brave Warrior,’ was painted a Native American theme by Picodome Elementary students

The statue sat next to the family’s gazebo until this week.

“I came out yesterday morning to sit in the gazebo and read the paper and noticed it wasn’t there,” said Jim Watson.

Watson said he called police and filed a report. His wife also posted about it on Facebook and now the whole neighborhood is on watch.

“I don’t know why somebody would do that,” Watson said. “They should have known they couldn’t do anything with it.”

Watson said he’s frustrated but reserving his judgment of the person responsible.

“Bring my horse back,” He said. “I mean, it’d be nice to wake up tomorrow morning and have the horse be right there and I can call the police and say everything is fine.”

Private Detective: Three Wanted in Connection to April Kidnapping

State Police are searching for three people wanted for an April kidnapping in Franklin County.

Investigators tell LEX 18 that 24-year-old Steven Miller, 31-year-old Erica Morrison, both of Frankfort, and 22-year-old Corey Mcarter of Stamping Ground are all facing kidnapping and assault charges.

Miller and Morrison also have a persistent felony offender charge.

Police tell LEX 18 that a fourth person, Dontae Clay, was also involved. He is already in jail.

Troopers say that back in April, the four went to a woman’s house armed with a gun and wanted $100 that was owed to them.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

The victim did not have that money, so police say she was held against her will and taken to a family member’s house and then to an ATM to get that money.

She was released not long after and police say she was not hurt.

Troopers are searching for Miller, Morrison, and Mcarter and say they are believed to be somewhere in the Franklin County area.

Miller and Mcarter were arrested that day on different charges. They posted bond and now those two, along with Morrison are now wanted for the kidnapping.

Clay has been in jail since April 28 on different charges. He is in the Franklin County Jail on charges of burglary 1st degree, persistent felony offender, and kidnapping.

Private Detective: Greenup County Parents Accused of Locking Up Child

Two parents head to court in Greenup County on Thursday, accused of locking up their teenage son in his room.

One neighbor told LEX 18’s Conroy Delouche that she watched the boy’s mom and dad bring him food through their front window, like he was caged inside.

No one was inside the home on Lucerine Lane in Greenup when State Police arrived to serve warrants to Frank and Sandy Torres.

Troopers stood only a few feet away from where a neighbor said their son would wait for dinner.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

“Them packing food to that window up there that’s open a little bit like he was in jail,” said Cricket Archey, a neighbor.

Archey says the teen used to mow her lawn, but that stopped once he got in trouble last year. That’s about the time prosecutors say the parents padlocked the boy’s door and put bars on the window.

“Just because a kid’s not perfect, doesn’t mean you lock them up like they’re in jail and treat them that way. You just don’t treat a kid that way,” said Archey.

But not everyone around the neighborhood buys the accusations.

John McGinnis told us that Frank Torres is a good man who has taken in many foster kids, and refused to believe he would lock up his own child.

“It does not sound a thing like something that he would do. And he is one of the best neighbors you could ever have, and one of the quickest to do anything for anyone around the neighborhood,” said McGinnis.

Frank and Sandy Torres were indicted by a grand jury on two counts each: unlawful imprisonment and failure to report child abuse. They are scheduled to be arraigned in Greenup County on Thursday afternoon.

“Whoever turned them in, bless you, bless you. Because I was getting ready to report it. Because no child should be treated that way, no child,” said Archey.

Private Detective: FBI Impersonator Who Preyed on Women Sentenced

Anthony Jones was a con man. The 46-year-old Jacksonville, Florida resident impersonated an FBI agent and an investment adviser—and made a habit of preying on women. But like so many scam artists, his lies and deceptions finally caught up with him.

The tawdry tale of Jones and the women he victimized began for Special Agent Steve Burros one January night in 2013, when a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office detective contacted him and said that Jones had impersonated an FBI agent in an attempt to solicit free sex from a prostitute.

Jones had requested a date from an online escort service and promised to pay $200. The prostitute arrived at his apartment, where Jones lived with his wife and three children. “This was all happening in the middle of the day,” Burros said. “The wife was at work and the kids were in school.”

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

Shortly after the prostitute arrived, she asked for the money. That’s when Jones said he was an FBI agent and that if she didn’t have sex with him for free, she would be arrested. When the woman balked, Jones called an accomplice on the phone, who was working from a script.

“He puts the phone on speaker and says, ‘Hey, I got another one for you. I’m just now finishing up the other two warrants,’ ” Burros said. “And so now, the prostitute believed him.” Jones also pointed to a smoke detector in the bedroom and said the woman was being monitored by a hidden camera.

Afterward, though, when the prostitute told her roommate what had happened, the two realized she had been scammed, and they went to Jones’ residence to collect the money. The heated argument that ensued led to a police intervention, and Jones ended up being charged with receiving a sex act through force or coercion—and Burros was called in to investigate the FBI impersonation allegation.

Meanwhile, the accomplice on the phone during the prostitution incident was a young woman who knew she was part of a scam but didn’t know Jones was trying to get free sex. She had a child with Jones but had no idea he was married and living with his wife and three other children. She, too, was a victim of Jones’ many cons.

It turned out that the young woman—the mother of Jones’ child—had lost both her parents in a car accident and received a settlement of about $35,000 from the insurance company. Jones lied and told her he was an investment adviser and that he owned fast food restaurants and would invest the money for her.

“She thought he was investing her money,” Burros said, “but instead he was depositing it in his wife’s account and spending it on himself.” The young woman had no idea what Jones had done until Burros discovered the fraud.

Jones was arrested on January 9, 2013 on the prostitute coercion charge and released on bond subject to electronic monitoring. The following April—aware that Burros was on to his additional financial fraud—Jones cut off his ankle monitoring bracelet and fled. He was on the run for more than two years, until he was captured in August 2015 by the U.S. Marshals Service in Jacksonville.

As for the FBI impersonation, “Jones was not a first timer,” Burros noted. He had previously been arrested for passing himself off as an agent to get work done on his house.

In 2016, Jones pleaded guilty to impersonating an FBI agent, wire fraud, and failure to appear. In February 2017, a federal judge sentenced him to five years and six months in prison. Upon release, he has been ordered to pay restitution of nearly $22,000 to the young woman whose insurance settlement he fraudulently gained access to. If he doesn’t pay, he could be sent back to jail.

“Anthony Jones was truly a con artist,” Burros said. “The money he scammed from this poor young woman was a significant sum for her, and now she is living with her grandparents and raising the child she had with Jones—and so far he has never given her a dime.”

Wrongful Death Murder Victim’s Cause of Death Discovered

The man accused of murdering a Northern Kentucky couple in 2016, then dumping their bodies miles away, is scheduled to appear in the Washington County Courtroom at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

For the relatives of Crystal Warner and Bobby Jones, it’s the first time they will see Pennington since Warner was buried over the weekend.

Officials now have confirmed she died from a gunshot wound to the stomach.

Relatives hope the case moves forward for Craig Pennington, who is the man accused of murdering Warner and her boyfriend, Bobby Jones, over the 4th of July weekend in 2016.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Family said Warner and Jones were Pennington’s landlords when he was behind on rent.

The couple paid a visit to Pennington, according to family, trying to evict him.

Months later, officers said the two were found dead miles away from home.

Bobby’s body was found in Clark County in August, and Crystal’s found in Bath County in November.

Although, it wasn’t until recently Crystal got to come home because medical examiners were collecting whatever evidence they could.

Pennington faces two counts of murder, robbery, kidnapping, tampering with physical evidence, theft, wanton endangerment, terroristic threatening, abuse of a corpse and menacing and felon in possession of handgun.

http://liarcatchers.com/drugdogsweeps.html

Waco police responded with a drug dog, which indicated the odor of narcotics in the package, the affidavit states.

Private Detective: Search And Rescue Crews Urge Hikers to Carry Whistles

It only costs two dollars, and it could help save a life, according to first responders. Starting Sunday, Powell County Search and Rescue will start a new safety campaign for hikers in the Red River Gorge.

It all goes back to one rescue Lisa Johnson remembers quite well form a year ago.

“It was three women, they went out on a walk, it got darker than they thought, they got turned around which happens a lot up here,” Johnson said.

She said, on this call, something small and simple changed everyone’s fortunes.

“We’re halfway and thinking, what are we going to do?” Johnson said. “We didn’t have any phone contact with them. about then we heard a whistle and everybody stopped and said, listen! She was blowing a whistle.”

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

Johnson said that woman’s whistle during the rescue caused an epiphany. Now, the rescue team is urging everyone to carry one with the new “whistle while you walk” safety campaign.

“I’ll help us a lot, and it will help the victims,” She said.

Starting this Sunday at the Natural Bridge Sky Lift, Powell County Search and Rescue will sell whistles for $2. The whistles were donated to the volunteers by the owner of the sky lift.

Team members plan to talk to people about why a whistle is always a better option than yelling for help.

“In your mind, when you’re screaming, you hear it loud, but it also saves the subject from getting thirsty, hurting their throat, and wearing themselves out because you’re scared, your energy leaves, and the more you scream, the weaker you get,” Johnson said.

On top of safer hikes, rescuers say each dollar spent will go a long way.

“All the money goes to our team for equipment and uniforms,” Johnson said.

The piece of mind for hikers and rescue crews will hopefully go a lot further.

Accident Reconstruction Iowa Couple Killed in KY Crash

LEX 18 has learned more about the Iowa couple killed in a small plane crash in Western Kentucky last week.

Pilot Dominic Giametta, 69, and his 55-year-old wife, Dr. Dianne Giametta, died in a crash Friday near Hopkinsville.

Friends of the Giamettas told LEX 18 that the couple was well-known in the quad cities area.

http://liarcatchers.com/accident_reconstruction.html

Dr. Dianna Giametta was an OB-GYN. Co-workers told LEX 18 they were very upset to hear about her death and her patients said she was the kind of doctor a patient could look forward to seeing.

“She talked to you and made you feel almost like you were the only person there,” her patient Aimee Shumaker said.

The FAA is investigating the cause of the crash, and FAA officials say that weather or possible mechanical failure could have contributed to the crash.
