Fraud Investigation Berea Police Looking for McDonald’s Scam Suspect

Police in Berea are asking for help in identifying a woman who they say tried to con a McDonald’s clerk Monday afternoon.

Police say the woman paid for a milkshake with a $50. Surveillance video shows the woman sticking something in her sweatshirt pocket when the clerk turned away, and investigators say they think it was a $20 bill. The woman then told the clerk she didn’t get back the right amount of change. When the cashier said she needed to count her drawer, the woman walked out of the restaurant.

“It is something that does happen every so often. People will come in and purposely try to confuse clerks working in the store, and they’ll get money given back to them that they weren’t owed,” Berea Police Department Sgt. Jake Reed said.

Police say the woman left in a black Ford Ranger pickup.
