Missing Person Asheville, NC Man Found in Greenville County, SC

An elderly man missing from an Asheville assisted living center since last week was found alive Monday in a wooded area in Greenville County, S.C.

A passerby found Albert Francis Parsons, 76, in his car Monday afternoon off U.S. 25 and notified authorities, Greenville County sheriff’s Master Deputy Jonathan Smith said. Parsons, who has family members in Upstate South Carolina, had parked his car in a wooded area near Gap Creek Road.

The person who found Parsons initially thought he was deceased because he was unresponsive, Smith said.

Parsons was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital, where he was in intensive care Tuesday, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The N.C. Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert for Parsons after he disappeared Friday from an assisted living center where he had been living at 138 Springside Drive in Asheville.

Parsons was believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment, authorities said.
