Wrongful Death Woman Sentenced in Connection to Johnson County Double Murder

The woman who led authorities to the bodies of a murdered Johnson County couple was sentenced to three years in prison Friday.

Amanda Fannin pleaded guilty last month to hindering prosecution in the case of the missing couple, Larry and Sandra Blanton. Their son, Willie Blanton, was sentenced to life in prison without parole after admitting he beat his parents to death and buried them on their Johnson County farm.

Judge John David Preston sentenced Fannin for her role in the deaths at a hearing in Johnson County Circuit Court Friday morning. Fannin and Blanton were dating at the time of the murder.

Larry and Sandra Blanton were reported missing last year. Their bodies were found in February thanks to a tip from Fannin.

Fannin initially told prosecutors she knew where the bodies were buried, but said she had nothing to do with their deaths. She was being held in jail at that time on charges of promoting contraband and flagrant non-support.

In exchange for the information, prosecutors agreed not to charge Fannin for the Blanton’s deaths, and not to pursue the death penalty against Willie Blanton.

However, prosecutors later learned Fannin had more to do with the deaths than she admitted. According to investigators, four people came forward telling the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office that Fannin told them she was present during the murder of at least Sandra Blanton and helped dispose of the bodies and clean up the murder scene.

She was charged with hindering prosecution, to which she pleaded guilty last month, days after Willie Blanton pleaded guilty to murder, tampering with physical evidence and other charges.
