Private Detective Lincoln County Man Arrested for Attempted Murder

An LEX 18 news crew was there Wednesday night when a Pulaski County man was arrested for allegedly trying to murder a couple in Lincoln County.

The victims said Mark Shellwalter shot at them while they drove in front of their Waynesburg home Sunday night. On Wednesday a judge issued a warrant for his arrest.

“Scared, scared something was going to happen to my kids,” said Christina Baker. Since Sunday she and her family have been worried about who might be lurking outside their home.

“They call him ‘Whiskey’ but his name is Mark … He’s my moms ex,” said Baker. She claims that Mark Shellwalter has been stalking them, and this time he went too far as they drove home.

Baker and her boyfriend, Scott Seizemore, said Shellwalter hid in a fence outside their home, and fired a bullet into their truck. “About shot me right in the head, didn’t even know it was coming,” said Seizemore.

The bullet narrowly missed Baker and her boyfriend as it ricocheted off the windshield. They later found it in the truck, but as they sped off in panic they said they knew who the gunman was.

“I mean I know who he is, I couldn’t mistake him for anyone else,” said Baker.

“I didn’t see him at the time, I saw a gun flash beside my head. But, after I took off in the truck after him he came out on the four-wheeler and I got behind him,” said Seizemore.

He tried to catch Shellwalter and called the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department for help. “They found the gun, they found the four-wheeler, they got it all in possession but he still wasn’t locked up,” said Baker.

Deputies said they couldn’t arrest Shellwalter at that point because he was back in Pulaski County and out of their jurisdiction. However, after days of investigation they finally had enough evidence to pick him up on Wednesday.

LEX 18 crews were there as he was taken to jail. However, Shellwalter did not wish to comment on the situation.

Investigators said the four wheeler he was driving was also stolen. The Lincoln County Sheriff said this is a confusing case and they are still gathering evidence.
