A Clark County preschool teacher went to jail for what police say she did to her own daughter.
45-year-old Cheryl Lockhart is being charged with second degree child abuse. Winchester police were called late Wednesday night when a child never came home from school. When they found the girl, police say she was too afraid to go home.
Social services were called and discovered two significant bruises on the child, one of which the girl told police was caused when her mother pulled her down the stairs.
Lockhart is a teacher at Hannah McClure Elementary.
The superintendent of Clark County Schools says he is aware of the investigation and the school will be conducting their own investigation and will make a decision on her employment once the matter is resolved, but wants to assure parents that student safety is their number one priority.
Lockhart is scheduled to be arraigned Monday.
