Private Detective: Humane Society Won’t Press Charges If Dog is Returned by 3 pm

In the wake of the theft of a dog from the Lexington Humane Society, workers there say they will not pursue criminal charges if the dog is returned by 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Thompson, a Blue Heeler/Australian Cattle Dog mix, was stolen from the Humane Society Tuesday afternoon. A couple was captured on film grabbing Thompson and throwing him over a fence.

“The puppy had been up for adoption for a few days nothing out of the ordinary,” Lexington Humane Society employee, Ashley Hammond said. “We hadn’t seen anything out of the ordinary people come and go throughout the facility.

Workers at the Humane Society are concerned because Thompson needs medication

According to a post on the Humane Society’s facebook page, if Thompson is returned by 3 p.m. Wednesday, either at the main campus adoption center (located at 1600 Old Frankfort Pike) or at the satellite adoption center in PetSmart in Hamburg, no questions will be asked and no charges will be filed.
