In the wake of the theft of a dog from the Lexington Humane Society, offered to not pursue criminal charges if the dog was returned by 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Someone took them up on the offer. Authorities at the Humane Society say that a “go-between” called them and said they wanted to return the dog.
Thompson, a Blue Heeler/Australian Cattle Dog mix, was stolen from the Humane Society Tuesday afternoon. A couple was captured on film grabbing Thompson and throwing him over a fence.

“The puppy had been up for adoption for a few days nothing out of the ordinary,” Lexington Humane Society employee, Ashley Hammond said. “We hadn’t seen anything out of the ordinary people come and go throughout the facility.
Workers at the Humane Society were concerned because Thompson requires medication. Thompson will be treated by a vet, but officials tell LEX 18 that he suffered a mild sprain in one of his feet.
