Private Detective: Laurel County Attorney Died After Shooting

A well-known Laurel County attorney has died after what Coroner Doug Bowling said was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The shooting happened on Spring Street in London around 11:00 Thursday morning. Warren Scoville, 75, was pronounced dead at St. Joseph Hospital.

A press release from the Laurel Co. Sheriff’s Office says that Sheriff John Root received a call from Scoville saying that he planned to harm himself. Scoville told Root where he could be found.

When responders arrived on scene, Scoville had already shot himself.

Scoville was involved in such high-profile cases as the murder trial for former Kentucky lawmaker Steve Nunn. Funeral arrangements are pending.
