Private Detective: Inmate Who Escaped Custody Recaptured

Police have recaptured the inmate who escaped custody earlier this week.

Police say that Jason Gay was being transferred from Laurel County and escaped outside of the Estill County Detention Center around 11:30 p.m. Officers say he slipped out of his handcuffs and ran from the jail to the Irvine Municipal Utilities facility around the corner. There, witnesses say that Gay attempted to steal an employee’s vehicle.
