Wrongful Death Arrest Made in Lexington Homicide

Lexington Police have charged a man already in custody in connection with one of the city’s latest homicides.

Jermaine M. Anderson has been charged with murder and assault in the shooting of two brothers. It happened on June 7, when officers responded to a shooting scene on Whitney Avenue. There they located two assault victims shot while sitting in their Cadillac.

One of those assault victims later died and was identified by the Office of the Fayette County Coroner as Montez L. Graves.On June 7, when officers arrived on the shooting scene, 911 communications officials received information about a possible suspect seen fleeing the area. Officers located Anderson and initiated a foot pursuit.

Following the pursuit, Mr. Anderson was arrested and charged with fleeing, tampering with physical evidence and trafficking in cocaine.

The additional charges were added today.

A few hours after the first shooting, police were called to Charles Avenue to investigate another shooting, only a block away from Whitney Avenue. When police arrived on scene, they say Ronnie Graves was shot at least once and died from his injuries. Ronnie Graves was the two previous victims’ uncle.
