Lexington police arrested a man accused of hitting a woman in the head with a saw during an altercation Monday.
Police say the incident apparently stemmed from a dispute between neighbors along Hawkins Avenue. Officers say both the man and woman involved had weapons in their possession. Police say a witness told them Paul Gardner, 54, struck the woman in the head with a flexible saw.

“The female was taken to the hospital, and after having an exam there, it was determined that the injuries she sustained would be consistent with a serrated weapon. So, a saw would be consistent,” Lexington Police Department Sgt. Ann Welch said.
Police arrested Gardner and charged him with assault.
