Lexington Police are investigating how a 4-year-old boy suffered a head injury which sent him to the emergency room.
They tell LEX 18 that the boy was home with his mother’s boyfriend, Carl Carpenter, on Crosby Drive Thursday afternoon when he was injured.
Officers say he was in and out of consciousness, so the boy was taken to a neighbor where they called 911.

There is no word on the boy’s condition.
Investigators say Carpenter was arrested on an existing warrant but he has since been charged with criminal abuse. According to his citation, Carpenter admitted to pushing the little boy down the stairs.
