A drug-detecting police dog changed whatever plans Cory Scott Whitaker and Steven Keith Whitaker might have had for Thursday and the weekend.
Lafayette police made a traffic stop at Sagamore Parkway and South Street about 1 a.m. Thursday. A police dog walking around the car indicated there might be drugs inside the car, and police searched it.
They found marijuana, heroin, methamphetamine, ecstasy and paraphernalia.
Police preliminarily charged Steven Whitaker, 25, of Lafayette, with dealing methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine.
Cory Whitaker faces preliminary charges of possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
Both remain jailed Friday afternoon in lieu of bond.
